picked up an ableton live session from last year, with a recording from my modular system - notes at the time mention using a matrix mixer for effects sends with feedback, one send to delay and another to beads, with a chord voice going in - revisiting this recording, i ended up layering two slower copies pitched down -1 and -2 octaves and working in some field recordings.

Hard to decide since there were so many cool tracks. Selected “B Drone” by @morgulbee / @alanblip for my first contribution. Hoping to work with another track before the Monday deadline. B Drone Aftermath [disquiet0698]

The combination of the melancholic piano riff by Leon Clowes combined with the rising tension from Marco Marongiu made me want to add some equally rising waves of noise to the mix. To do so, I employed the Soma Ether which was "driven" by the magnetic fields created by the Ferrous from Landscape which then went through the Cosmos and Zoia, fed back into each other using the Matrix from Future Sound Systems. The resultant cacophony was then imported into Logic, tamed with granular effects, and then layered beneath the Clowes/Marongui combo. I tried my best to be subtle, so hopefully I did not ruin the combo!

Eclectic current – In the event of Apocalypse, please scream into the void

This was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0702: Chain of Applications. The Assignment: Make music by misusing a piece of music software. This project is the second of three that are being done by the Disquiet Junto in collaboration with the 2025 Musikfestival Bern, which will be held in Switzerland from September 3 through 7.

I rarely use the metronome in Ableton Live, even when recording on top of a rhythm. Maybe it’s the lack of experience with it but I find the sound too distracting. For this project, decided to not use the metronome as a rhythm aid but as a sound source to be sampled and manipulated into an experimental composition.

First, recorded the sound with a Panasonic microcassette recorder. I then recorded it back into Ableton Live. The output connection on the recorder was picking up some static and noise but used the recording anyway, From there I used Audio Damage Circa to loop and mangle the audio. Used Imagiro Autochrome, SoundGhost Jumble and ValhallaRoom for effects. The result reminds me of a chorus of frogs, insects and other creatures in some wetland at night.

Errr ... lead vocals by the Word robot! 🎤🤖

So, this popped out of the process for yesterday's Disquiet Junto project ... I was originally going to use the Microsoft Word 'Read Aloud' function in that track, but got side-tracked in the key tapping noises and 'bips'! 🙊
