Ian Hawgood and James Murray began Slow Reels in 2018 from studios in London and Warsaw. The early work involved exchanging heavily modulated long-form textures, recorded on a variety of instruments, notably vintage synths. Reiterative digital manipulations and successive destructive passes through an end-of-life reel-to-reel tape setup resulted in a collection of entirely unrepeatable drone suites.

Their debut Farewell Islands for Morr Music was met with widespread critical acclaim. Sustain, presented now by Fluid Audio, extends the force of this uncompromising aesthetic further, as the artists’ shared medium further degenerates into overwhelming, full-frequency emotion.

At the beginning of this year I was selected by Cities and Memory to be part of "Migration Sounds", a beautiful sound project together with people from 51 countries.
I worked on my composition based on Ben Brindle's field recording. I took a bit of that fragment and assembled it by processing synths, horns, a lot of reverb and delay to be able to fuse the English and Argentinean fan base.

The project is the result of a collaboration between Cities and Memory and the Centre for Migration, Politics and Society (COMPAS) at the University of Oxford.

Like holding the infinite within the finite, “Ocean In The Palm” envelops listeners in a timeless moment of pure wonder. This third single from Japanese musician Moshimoss’ forthcoming EP, Reminiscence (2025), diverges from the simplicity of earlier tracks by weaving processed voices—both the artist’s own and those of children—into a shimmering tapestry of sound, underscored by gentle guitar melodies.

Inspired by the vision of children frolicking in an endless dusk, the song exists without beginning or end, capturing the beauty of a fleeting, eternal now. Immersive and otherworldly, “Ocean In The Palm” blurs the boundaries between innocence, nostalgia, and the vastness of imagination.

Through its layered textures and emotive soundscapes, the track invites listeners to pause and reflect, immersing themselves in a world where time dissolves and only the moment remains. It is both a tender exploration of memory and a profound meditation on the ephemeral nature of joy.
