Mud Pie Sun is Steven and Tom puttering around with pop music. They write and record quiet and loud melodic pop-psych-folkrock-garage-etc. songs in their Philadelphia area homes.

In 1989, inspired by the American and New Zealand underground DIY pop and home-recording ethic, they began home recording 4-track cassette albums along with pal Rob. In the early 1990s, they released 3 full-length recordings under the name Mud Pie on their own and through England's Acid Tapes, and they contributed to a compilation on Boston's Sedimental label. When Tom moved to San Francisco in 1992, the combo went on extended leave.

In 2003, Tom moved back to Philadelphia. They resumed writing and recording new songs under the name Mud Pie Sun in 2004.

The Journals Kept (Lempster, NH) is Paul Vittum (founding member of the experimental psych pop band the Princeton Reverbs Colonial) and wife Faith Vittum. Like PRC the Journals Kept excite audiences with their brand of indie folk rock and fuzzed out pop reminiscent of Guided by Voices, Magnolia Electric Company, Death Vessel, and the Elephant Six recording company.
