Late 1970s electronica from the Soviet Union / Estonia: four years after prog rock band Mess disbanded, Estonian musician Sven Grünberg released a remarkable album entitled “Hingus” in 1981. The 23 minute title track invites us into a fascinating, futuristic world of sound, laced with Far Eastern tonality, embellished with a church organ, extremely rare synthesizers and extraordinary percussion effects. The other two tracks, no less superb, are more in the stylistic tradition of the Berliner Schule / Berlin School (Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream). Out October 21, 2016 (CD/vinyl/digital)

Cititrax is thrilled to present a full length LP entitled Adieux Au Dancefloor by Montreal based recording artist, Marie Davidson. Marie Davidson has emerged as one of the foremost electronic artists working in contemporary pop today. As a long-time member of Essaie Pas (DFA Records), Davidson has had the opportunity to hone her many talents. She has been participating in the city’s vibrant experimental community for much of her adult life. However, in 2012 she began to unveil compositions under her own name, revealing a solo artist who possessed the combined confidence and vulnerability required to write, produce and perform unaccompanied. Davidson’s intimate solo work is embodied through a host of synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines which coalesce in synchronized harmony, punctuated by vocals, half sung, half spoken in both French and English. She masterfully shapes the overall mood, themes, emotion, expression and intensity of her work, which gives the final result a distinctive, cinematic quality. 
With Adieux Au Dancefloor, Marie makes a slight departure from her last two releases, via Holodeck (2015) and Weyrd Son (2014), by creating her first fully dancefloor oriented piece of work. Through the 45 minutes of music that comprises the album, she experiments with pop structures, defines her voice, and layers rhythms to make complex and beautiful techno tracks. She closes the album with the title track in classic Chanson style.
Adieux Au Dancefloor will be released on October 6th. The record will be pressed on 160 gram white vinyl and will feature photographs by the equally talented Corinne Schiavone. The record will be housed in a full color printed heavyweight jacket along with matching printed inner sleeve. Pre-order available now. Digital release to follow.

We’re happy to announce a unique collaboration between one of our long time favorite artists, In Aeternam Vale and Anneq, a stunning young Madrid-based vocalist originally from Minsk, Belarus. In Aeternam Vale and Anneq met in 2011 and began to collaborate in 2015. In Aeternam Vale, originally from Lyon, has been making synthesizer based electronic music since the early 80s, when he began to self-release many of his recordings on cassette. As the years went on his cold and caustic synthpunk sound, often primitive and hypnotic evolved into rhythmic, throbbing music for the dance floor, his own unique style of techno. On this record, In Aeternam Vale and Anneq come together to create two very different versions of the same track, one fit for the club and the other a more intimate version, for quiet listening at home. Je Ai Dissous, the opener, is a dark smoky track with a hypnotic, cyclical underlay reminiscent of early industrial music while the Page R Version of the same track trandscends the floor and becomes completely filmic. Anneq’s seductive vocal is suspended in a beatless, cavernous void. Side B opens with Tendencia, a very classic catchy minimal wave style track, sung in Spanish. The V6 version of Tendencia again focuses on Anneq’s voice set in a darker, slower more atmospheric melody. The four tracks culminate in an elegant and thoughtful collaboration from these two strong talents that complement one another so well. The “Je Ai Dissous” EP is pressed on 160 gram deep purple “spilled” inside electric blue transparent vinyl, limited to 999 copies and housed in a gloss printed sleeve. Release date: November 15th. Parallel zu Hans Nieswandts Hildegard-Knef-Remix-Album-Produktion ergab sich auch der äußerst glückliche Umstand einer neuen Zusammenarbeit der sagenumwobenen Formation Whirlpool Productions, bestehend aus Eric D. Clark, Justus Köhncke und Hans Nieswandt. Über zehn Jahre nach ihrem letzten gemeinamen Album nahmen sich die drei das Knef-Stück „Das ist Berlin“ gemeinsam vor.

Dieser Remix wird flankiert von Eric D. Clarks Sichtweise von „Ich liebe euch“, Justus Köhnckes Interpretation von „Und wenn ich wage dich zu lieben“ sowie Hans Nieswandts Remix von „Ich schreib dir ein Buch“. 

In limitierter Vinyl-Auflage gepresst, ist dies möglicherweise der Auftakt zu noch weitaus größeren Taten, die die drei inzwischen ausgezeichnet gereiften Künstler gemeinsam anzuzetteln ventilieren. 
Ein Video zu ihrem gemeinsamen Hildegard-Knef-Remix ist unter eigener Regie derzeit in Arbeit, neue Tracks in der Pipeline.
