'Injecting her own unique brand of high-octane energy into the Drum and Bass scene, Cape
Town based DJ Gabzilla is a part of the growing list of female Drum and Bass artists making a
name for themselves in South Africa. Born and raised in Joburg, Gabzilla’ s passion for the
genre was ignited in the pulsating crowd of a Science Frikshun event at Town Hall, but it was
only when her friend and fellow Drum and Bass DJ Dakota offered to show her the ropes during
the pandemic that her love for DJing blossomed - and Gabzilla was born.
Since then, her career has been a blur of live-streamed lockdown sets on her Twitch channel,
Arc Radio - for the Renegade and The Sauce crews, as well as live shows at local venues,
Stateless and Tau with Rubricate Records and Friends. Inspired by her long-time passion for
dance, Gabzilla’ s sets are curated to make people move through a crowd-bouncing mixture of
melodic liquid, dark/minimal rollers - with some Grime and Hip Hop-influenced halftime thrown in
for good measure.'
