We are proud to present the fifth instalment of the Pal’s compilation, with talent from across the globe, coming together to create a collection to soundtrack these strange days.

First up, Aural Trace sets the scene with the slow burning celestial soundscapes of ‘Melange’, where choral overtones curl up snuggly along the drum machine, fusing organic and mechanics.

The influence of the Cologne School seeps through every pour of M Love’s ‘Oboda’ with warm analogue melodies oozing throughout. 
Churning distorted guitars twist between the throbbing tribal drums of Mufti’s 'Fascinatio'.

Marzian’s 'Conversaciones Delirantes' pulls us through a psychedelic shapeshifting bass heavy prism of sound. Sharp stabs cut through the bass on Flvn’s ‘Yule’, no mistake, this could soundtrack a slasher movie in-spite of its festive title.

Leo af Ekenstam’s ‘Stress’ carries a tense, yet driving groove punctuated by nervous guitars and shady atmospherics. 

A bubbling bit-crushed low end permeates Montessori’s 'Speed Dating’s dark EBM tinged muscular workout.

Stockholm Syndrome teams up with Lusca to craft a pumping retro synth infused stomper which twists and jitters from the opening bars to the last refrain.

Cabizbajo and Colossio also combine their production talent to create the cavernous feedback driven echofest of ‘Ley’ with twisted arpeggios and animal like sounds dancing in and around the drums.

Manner of Speaking play out with ‘the Unknown’, a brooding instrumental downtempo track which strikes a literal and figurative chord with the collective consciousness this past year.

After numerous releases in the past 12 months, Tel Aviv based Eliezer, joins us, along with friends of the label, Mufti, Skelseys and Ackerman to deliver 'Ritmica La Noar', three guitar laden sonic meditations backed up with remixes from French duo Kimshies, who pushes the tempo and stretches the fabrics weaving together a patchwork of fear and loathing, Modular Project who pulls the guitar and twisted harmonics from 'Don't Be', using them to create a widescreen technicolour opiate laden take and Tyu who rebuilds 'Halalit Ushma Tshuka' into a more tribal understated and up-tempo mutant dance rework.

Curses' 13 tracks heavy compilation International Waters Vol. 1 for his Ombra International label musically portrays how the past, present and future of the darker Disco with a pinch of New Wave, Post-Punk and Italo Disco could sound like – driving, pulsating, genre-blending music that makes you want to leave the sofa and follow your ordinary weekend routine, namely that of dancing in dark sweaty clubs until the day light. Mufti's contribution Impasse, French for dead end, is the exit strategy for all those initially mentioned genre-lovers. With rockish guitar riffs, a typical smashing discoid bassline Impasse combines the best of many (musical) worlds and puts the different pieces meaninfully together to come up with an impressive track that exploits its six and a half minutes fully and dedicates itself to dance. 

International Waters Vol. 1 will be released on Ombra International on May 1st, 2020.

Her Majesty’s Ship celebrates release number 50 with a fantastic new EP from Mufti ft. Vongold that will be preceded by two singles - ‘Inverse’ on November 6th, then ‘Moonstruck’ on November 20th, before the full EP lands on November 27th with a superb music video to accompany ‘Silence’. Mufti is Bernardo Barrera, a multi instrumentalist producer from Guadalajara, Mexico. This project comes after being part of Los Fugazzi, and finds him focus more on rock variants and 80’s music. A mix of electronics with disco, electro, EBM and post punk define the sound. Vongold, meanwhile, is Nora Cam, a DJ and producer also from Guadalajara and influenced by genres such as disco, new wave and various girl bands. Her sounds seek to highlight the female voice, merging it with indie dance for an extra special edge. The idea behind this EP, which draws on the influence of bands like Depeche Mode, Lebanon Hanover and The Kvb, was to "convey how we are constantly feeling anxious and chased by our failures. And even if we need to scream, the pressure and idealisation of modern life immobilises us and shuts us up." Opening up the release is the superb ‘Silence’, a slow motion but high impact deep disco cut with a fat bassline and sensuous vocals. ‘Inverse’ is more punchy, with rugged bass and drums run through by withering sci-fi synths and deadpan vocals from Vongold. ‘Totem’ is an excellent fusion of dark wave styles and crashing hits, it’s a new form of electronic punk that draws you deep into its own unique sound world. Last of all is ‘Moonstruck’, a prowling late night groove filled with tension and menace. This is a fittingly standout 50th EP for a label that has very much carved out its own singular place in the electronic music world.
