Dynamic DJ/production outfit Leftwing : Kody make a welcome return to the Truesoul fold.

Londoners Leftwing : Kody made their first impression on Truesoul back in 2016, with the excellent four-tracker ‘Telepathy’. Since this time, they’ve dropped strong releases on Moon Harbour Recordings, Green Velvet’s Relief Records and Desolat, all the while developing their sound to explore the breadth of house and techno’s broad terrain.

‘In The Moment’ EP is the embodiment of this development. The title track kicks off the EP and conjures up atmosphere in spades with its stripped back techno approach, tribal grooves and wonky synth line, while a bongo hook line maintains the energy throughout. ‘You Know’ is an attitude-packed beast, led by ghetto vocals and sleek groovy basslines, with the duo’s masterful drum work ensuring the track pops. No surprise it was championed by Loco Dice throughout the summer. ‘Stutter’ lays it down, pure and simple; a mash of stuttered stabs and squelching techno beats, it manages to occupy an otherworldly atmosphere courtesy of some intergalactic synth effects, giving the track its memorable edge.

Niko Schabel (Radio Citizen,Express Brass Band,Embryo) & Tom Wieland (7 Samurai, Panoptikum) continue their unique Post Kraut Exotica SOUND VOAGE arround SE Asia with  a floor banging vinyl 12" outtake of their highly acclaimed "en route to Thailand" album: Schattenspiel Dub is a future bass heavy  club monster with  a catchy cinematic Thai guzheng theme that could easily be the title theme of the next Wong Kar-Wai movie.
On the flip Bucharests world electronica shooting stars Khidja give "golden garuda" the remix treatment: expect a psychedelic electronica odyssey in search of some higher state of conciousness. Deep off center house music for space travellers.

A cool track from the 90s with an awesome bassline.  Bit the bullet and bought the Korg M1 vst for this one, really hard to get the same sound with a basic triple oscillator.  The main synth stab was done with the SQ8L VST, and that thing is hard to program.  It's an emulator of the Ensoniq SQ80 which is rumored to be used in the original.  No standard presets on it matched, but it has some waveforms (digit1, digit2) when mixed come close.  The rest of the song was using 909 samples and LMMS presets (whistle, slow strings, etc).  The baseline has some swing and it's a bit tougher to get right in LMMS.

Live At Robert Johnson is happy to announce the second release of Sao Paulo based artist Davis titled "Ordinary Sleep". 

Davis a key figure of Sao Paulo's strong techno and house scene, and a member of the collective behind the underground warehouse event series ODD. On his forthcoming EP Davis brings together break-beat and acid with his trancy signature synthwave melodies. "Ordinary Sleep" is set to release Friday, 22 February 2019.

The ever reliable Isle Of Jura label return with their first release of the year and as standard doesn’t disappoint. Monster Skies, a six track EP wonderfully crafted by label head Kev Griffith in his Jura Soundsystem guise  provides a sure footed journey through his musical influences covering proto house, boogie and balearica.
‘Parrot Rhythmic Space Jam’ the fifth track on the EP gives us the opportunity to momentarily lose ourselves. The bouncing proto bass and firm drum pattern keeps us in check whilst the mind trips out on the tropical haze. Fluttering melodies swirl left to right, rising and falling throughout like a group of shimmering fish giving the track an almost subterranean feel, evocative of Pete Namlock’s Dreamfish LP from 1993.  We have to mention briefly ‘Carafe Denim’, the EP’s worthy opener. With it’s irresistible shuffling proto house rhythm, rolling bass line, ethnic chants and impromptu Lion roars and African female narrative that combine to make for a stunning piece of music you can’t help but get drawn into. Feet firmly on the dance floor and your mind evoking images of African plains, it’s enough to induce images of tribal dancing and story telling around dusky fires.
