The project is an ambient performance based on modular synthesizers and rhythmic foundations created with an MPC. The origin of the project came from the exploration and listening to sounds throughout the winter of 2023-2024 in his studio in Malta.

The idea was to use the studio’s machines, keyboards, and modular systems, listening to random sounds coming directly from them. The sounds that resonated with us the most were selected to shape what would become the final live performance.

Recorded live at Perpendicular 2024 (@espacio-perpendicular) - somewhere in the woods. When? Sunday 10:30 Where? main stage.

Perpendicular is a self managed and private festival held somewhere in the woods of central Spain.

"For Cenote I composed a live environment that is a synthesis of sound spaces I've travelled through and recorded over the last few years. Born of rhythm, my music is also made up of ethereal, sometimes generative, sound spaces. This recording, made up of three main chapters, flows finely, like the water we try to hold in our hands into a crystalline dialogue between the sounds of life and the melodies that flow from them. One of our favourite selectors, Third Space, takes the helm for Chrysalism episode 6. More than ever this mix encapsulates the storm, as the rain was pouring outside Ross began recording the mix - picking out records on the fly to mimic the swells of a storm; the constant pattering of rain and intermittent crashes of thunder. Through a two hour journey this mix has space to breathe and develop just as Ross intended, reaching far beyond ambient and evoking chrysalism in its truest sense.

Paraffin is back with another special episode of its Podcast series, this time with our most fav ambient artists, Ario from Astral Industries (UK), a well known ambient label which is famous for its quality vinyls with the greatest artists in this game on their catalog. Ario also played at Paraffin Tehran’s 1 year anniversary in Iran, a festival with Iranian acts from all around the world. This mix is the actual recording of Ario’s performance at Experiment Intrinsic London on September 15/2018, Intrinsic is an event organisation which is taking place a at special locations around the world focusing on ambient music, also including a very special visual art treatment at their events.
