After our first release via ZZK records 2 years ago, History of Colour, a collaboration project between El Búho and Barrio Lindo, returns with our second release, "Calidoso". The 4 track EP explores new sonic landscapes for us both, inspired by slow-dance and flitting between andean folk, marimba, electronica and organic sounds.

The music was co-created by Robin (El Búho) and Agustín (Barrio Lindo) in January over emails and Dropboxes between Buenos Aires & Mexico DF and mastered by our good friend Nicola Cruz based in Quito, Ecuador.

The artwork is a fragment of a gorgeous mural called called "Historia del tiempo" from Buenos Aires by the Argentine artist Elías Santis.

The cult flies ever closer to the sun with sonic assistance from NICOLA CRUZ, MOSCOMAN, XANGA, and Malka Tuti members 84PC.

One of the key emerging artists out of South America in recent years, Nicola Cruz is fresh off his debut album on ZZK and primed to take off with his folklorically dope live set. ‘Pagano’ might be his most dance-floor friendly track to date, sounding like it came straight out of Compass Point studios carrying the smell of good ganja.

Next up is Disco Halal’s MOSCOMAN, kicking it in a latino style for a change, flexing his skills into different lingual terrain, masterfully mixing things up in his inimitably unconventional style.

Aussie favela-funklord Xanga is back with MC Sheikh Djibouti, with a blunted piece of snake charmed spacey hip hop. Dope.

Finally, Tel Aviv’s 84PC, a trio comprised of Malka Tuti’s Katzi Kenneth, Asaf Samuel and Naduve, deliver a beautiful piece of sun-kissed guitar prog downtempo. Mellow, melting, mental, magic mushroom music.

Kapote loves the funk. And he loves Blaxploitation movies. The black underground cinema from the 70's. Kapote samples dirty talk from these movies and puts it on his bass lines. Melodic basslines with a heavy 1070 funk vibe. Bass lines that can create a sexual tension. Kapote adds a few warm, jazzy rhodes piano chords and a lot of reverbs and filtering. And the music rolls. Often more like a jam then like a constructed piece of music. In the highest points this music is pure endorphin. It's 4 to the floor - but it has a soulful analogue sound. Kapote says he was listening to records from old Detroit label Red Planet and Parisian downtempo pioneers Motorbass and La Funk Mob while making this record. And yes, the vibe is there. Like these guys Kapote likes to build his musical trips around snippets from old funk vinyl. Adding beats with vintage drum machines and creating an eclectic trip into a universe full of jazzy bits, noisy drums and dirty samples.

Adiós Morena is the first single off of Afro-Pacific super group, Rio Mira's forthcoming album, Marimba del Pacifico. Composed by Esteban Copete, the single also features remixes by Nicola Cruz, Kaleema & Chancha Via Circuito, Midnight Ravers and M. RUX. 

In 2015, UNESCO added the marimba to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, observing that "Marimba music and traditional chants and dances are musical expressions integral to the family and community fabric of people of African descent in the Colombian South Pacific region and Esmeraldas Province of Ecuador." 

In celebration of this cultural heritage, and with a main goal of creating an intergenerational meeting between the sounds of Afro music from the Pacific, Rio Mira was founded. The project has a fundamental mission of revitalizing and strengthening bonds between the members of the Afro community from each side of the Colombia-Ecuador border. 

Rio Mira is co-produced by Ivis Flies (Co-Director and Creator of the musical and social heritage recovery Project "De Taitas y Mamas", nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2013. "Smile Ambassador" in 2010) and Ivan Benavides (Producer of Carlos Vives, Sidestepper, Chocquibtown, Grammy Winner Gaiteros de San Jacinto) and features a number of well known Cali and Esmeraldeña artists including Esteban Copete and Karla Kanora. Rio Mira's first album, Rio Mira - Marimba del Pacifico, will be released in 2017 on AYA Records.

Folklorica’s chosen lord, Nicola Cruz has shepherded the masses from the church of high tempos and brought trance-formed revellers down to earth with his fusion of crisp electronics and organic, indigenous vibrations. Miraculously, he has brought this style of music to Europe’s major big room clubs and huge festival stages worldwide, pleasing crowds in the habit of being hypnotized by homogenous house music.

Espìritu de Protección opens as a revelation, two seconds into the groove and you’re deep in the tribe. You’re dancing, everybody’s dancing, things dub out, melt down, and a haunting vocal wisps through the room, tickling the crowd from their tailbones to their pineal glands. Just as you recover from that spell, in fly the flutes. Every yogi in the vicinity sways into the front and all of a sudden, you KNOW you’re getting laid tonight. That’s the kind of power we’re dealing with: CRUZ CONTROL.

It’s so potent we had to carefully extract the Flute-A-Pella and serve it up separately to use as a cult DJ tool.
