London/Paris based duo Mytron & Ofofo (@mytronofofo) deliver a collection of eclectic mid-tempo, pop-inflected disco cuts on their 'Ceremony' EP via Multi Culti, which includes the catchy, tribal and organic sonic excursion 'Crickets: Archipelagian Impressions'. 

Mytron & Ofofo's fresh outing on the Multi Culti imprint (@multiculti) follows recent releases on Les Yeux Orange and Razor-N-Tape that have showcased the duo's knack for producing tasteful arrangements from across the dance music spectrum. Their 'Ceremony' EP further expands their sound by incorporating various influences from around the world into a collection of unique cuts filled with intricate rhythms, emotive motifs and infectious grooves. 

The 'Ceremony' EP is set for release October 29.

‘Rise And Shine’, the first full Ostgut Ton solo release by Substance (aka @Peter-Kuschnereit), sees him fusing his deep, industrial aesthetic with the resonant bass-heavy leanings of his alter ego DJ Pete, as evidenced on the title track’s off-kilter metallic riddims and multiple, interlaced SH-101 and Prophet 5 melodies. From there, potential set-closer “Countdown” blasts off with relentlessly rattling, scraping breaks, hissing German vox and big chords. The compact explorations of “Bird Cave” and “Distance” offer a more atmospheric take on bass and rhythm, while EP closer “Cruising” re-explores the uncanny, Berlin deep techno cosmos Kuschnereit has helped define, this time in denser form.

Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer. 

Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.

At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. but the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal. Multi Culti, promoting local collaboration, one freaky record at a time.
