Inventor of instruments, self-taught composer, poet and blind at 16, he dwelled for 30 years in 6th Avenue & 53th in New York, wearing a viking suit while selling his recorded music and poems. Friend of the best musicians of the city such as Charlie Parker or Benny Goodman, he got introduced to Native American music since young. This mixture of Jazz, Native American music and New York City street sounds are the foundation of Moondog’s signature sound.
