'’22 - 22 EP’ witnesses the return of blaktone! Like Renaissance’ recent Come Closer release, it’s another elevation that sees a duo make the leap from the Merin VA series to a full, extended player.

As ever with blaktone, the whole package is a genre-defying ride that flirts between indie and MH&T with cohesive ease, though Roman and Igor’s main concern is the dancefloor. “Our inspiration comes spontaneously,” they explain, “so there isn’t really an underlying meaning or personal story behind the tracks. We just set out to make club-killers with a clear rhythm and groove.”

Lead track, ’22 - 22’ is a case in point with its memorable bassline, pinpoint percussion and answerphone sample, which cleverly intertwines with the instrumentation as the track progresses. Asked where the title came from, the guys laughingly reply, “Well, you may think it’s some sort of telephonic reference, but it’s actually because we believe in the magic of numbers and finished it at 22:22. It was simple!” Which only goes to confirm that sometimes the answer really is on the tin!

‘Tube Romantic’ and ‘Jungle City’ complete the trilogy of original tracks. The former evokes memories of 80’s arcade games, albeit in a very contemporary, beautiful way; whilst the latter is further proof that piano and house music will always share a mutual love. Job done in terms of their self-set goal of dancefloor devastation!

But the guys didn’t want to stop there, they were keen to work with Renaissance to bring wider appeal to the package by inviting two of the coolest producers at work today. Hailing from opposite sides of the world, Copenhagen’s Radeckt infuses ’22 - 22’ with a melodic, cutting-edge before things hop across the Atlantic to the electronic hotbed that is Brazil and Mila Journée’s powerful rework of ‘Tube Romantic’.'

Next up on Stil vor Talent is production outfit Space Food, all set at getting the vibes pouring and hips swaying with their newest, 'Odyssey' EP. Cutting a path of abstract-leaning elation and forthright danciness, the St Petersburg-based pair has us covered with four-tracks spanning a wide range of styles and tropes, seamlessly connecting the dots betwixt zero-G bass manoeuvres, sensually overwhelming prog build-ups and a sheer touch of quirky and immersive otherworldliness. 

Fusing the ubiquitous horsepower of thunderous subs with the narrative edge of the finest deep-house epics, 'Epsilone' gets the ball rolling with outstanding rhythmic verve and transfixing flamboyance, as it eases us in a suspended headspace, halfway utter euphoria and melancholy-drenched atmospherics. An earwormy Italo racer, 'Hope' trades the opener's breaksiness for upfront fast-lane-ready, floor-it attitude. A trouble-brewing combo of steely oddity and synth-splashed ebullience, this one packs a serious punch and some indomitable floor-destroying FX.

A bespoke roller-coaster of a tune, 'Metamorphosis' attacks pedal to the metal and doesn't relent throughout seven minutes of an assertive shelling of hi-intensity bass moves and 16-bit-like machine funk bound to crush everything in its wake. Final number and title-track 'Odyssey' comes as a culmination of Space Food's bumpy riding, trance-inflected style, delivering the kind of fun and focussed club voodoo you can't stay cold to. Geared up for big-room traction and cinematic synchronisation, this is club music at its most strikingly boisterous and enveloping, high-powered yet euphonic.

Sascha Braemer shines in Surrrealism with "Geiger EP".

The acclaimed German artist once again outdoes himself with a majestic and virtuosic release. Young rising star 19:26 and the always elegant Radeckt accentuate the brightness with 2 remixes of superb quality.

"Geiger" is the opening piece. With an imposing declaration of intent, we enter into a relentless rhythm. Accompanied by pads that lead you into a feeling of euphoria and culminate in an explosion of sensations. A majestic composition destined for the dancefloor.

19:26 is one of the gala guests at this show and performs his version of "Geiger". An artist who has burst onto the scene with his great talent and his peculiar way of interpreting music. He delights us with his journey of melodies and atmospheres that transport you through space and time.

Radeckt presents his particular vision of "Geiger". With his characteristic elegance and sound, he shows off his creative skills with a subtle and seamless production. A marked rhythm accompanied by joyful and mysterious melodies that end in a sensory explosion.

"Circles And Cicles" puts the finishing touch with a frenetic track. Braemer unloads all his potential to sign a rough and fierce discourse. Squeezing the synthesizers to the maximum to emit punctures to the eardrum. Not suitable for sensitive ears.

Artwork by Nuria Baena. For this special release, the artist captures the fusion of the human being with a musical instrument, in this case the violin. Representing the union that exists between the musician and the instrument, as if it were part of it.
