HYPNA & NIQH - Circuit Reflex [Premiere]

Shelter presents “Aveen” — the third installation in our genre-agnostic compilation series.

To follow up 2023’s “Feyrûse” and 2024’s “Mizgîn”, we have curated an emotionally charged collection of 17 tracks that press against the debilitating realities of life in the mid-2020s. The title stems from a Persian word meaning “pure” or “transparent” — signaling a search for unfiltered and sincere artistic expression in the midst of a social climate filled with smoke and mirrors.

“Aveen” features Shelter’s most international line-up to date, with music from 18 artists spread across 13 countries and 5 continents displaying their signature sounds shaped by their local scenes and cultures. 

Flowing through mutated shades of ambient, hypnagogic pop, trance, leftfield techno, neo-perreo, and GQOM — the compilation connects the myriad influences and mind-states of electronic musicians from nearly every corner of the world and tethers them together into a cathartic 17-track excursion.

Creaked Records gear up to issue their latest double vinyl album release from Swiss producer Nic As Well, previously known under the moniker Lemonick...Our pick from the album is ‘Tickler‘. Opening with precision-drilled drum patterns threaded through a maze of tension-charged frequencies, Nic As Well drags the audience in a Gqom-tinged dimension, ready to be blasted in a jam-packed yard in the townships of Alexandra. As the track unfolds, a maelstrom of stomping kicks collides with FX-warped screams, ending in a cyber aftershock that remains forever like a planetary memory.

Nic As Well - Tickler [Creaked]

@galtier returns to Plasma Sources with Mainframe Incantation, a five-track release marking the 7th position on the label’s roster. First appearing on the Multi Source compilation earlier this year, Galtier now moves beyond the mechanical, sci-fi focus toward a sound that fuses technology with the divine, inhabiting the liminal space between worlds. 

Rooted in the earliest traditions of percussive music as a vehicle for altered states, Mainframe Incantation channels ritual energy through synthesised and digitised means, closing a cultural loop from origin to present. The result is a tension between the spiritual and the mechanical — feverish, dissonant, and hypnotic. 

The journey begins with "Ausmisis States", a restrained, technical opener of squelchy basslines and coarse pads, setting the stage for contact. "Tincture Pump" bursts through next—erratic, bouncy, and high-velocity, with a swelling distortion lead that injects chaotic energy straight to the bloodstream. 

In "Tink Cycle", the pace slows into a groove-laden trance, its caustic bassline dragged forward by steady kicks and splintering snares. At the centre lies "Hex Crawler", a gurgling, otherworldly entity speaking in alien tones before breaking into a vast, unearthly climax. 

Closer "Phantom Tremors" hurls us back toward reality with hasty techno-inflected percussion, metallic strikes, and roaring sub-frequencies. Pulsing hardware bleeps push the final surge, sealing the ritual in a haze of digital energy.

Amity presents Chrome Abyss, the much-anticipated debut solo EP from sought-after producer and DJ Beaabea. Her tracks have caught the attention of key tastemakers like Jaguar and Martha on BBC Radio 1, with releases including her debut single 'Pixelate' on EMA’s label Woozy imprint, and her latest cut 'Constants' on Amity. After making her mark with these standout early releases, Chrome Abyss arrives as a distilled and deliberate statement, channeling a sound palette that is shiny, metallic, and fluid yet grounded in rhythmic force.

Across four tightly constructed tracks, Beaabea unveils a world of glistening surfaces and low-end pressure - bass-heavy, refined, and built for maximum club potency. KNOCK OUT! hits with a sharp, clean impact; I Like Your Mind coils around processed vocal phrases and slick sub textures; MISFIRE rattles with mechanical tension. At the core, onandonandon loops and unravels hypnotic vocals into an endless feedback cycle, refracting around chrome-plated percussion. The entire EP carries a cool, reflective sheen with productions that shimmer like sculpted metal under strobe light.

Known for her genre-fluid sets and productions that fuse bass with high-energy percussion, Beaabea has become a distinctive presence, affiliated with collectives like Steel City Dance Discs and Club Glow. Through her event series and Voices Radio show How Did It Get So Late?, she has built space for FLINTA* DJ's, all while refining her own sonic identity. Chrome Abyss now solidifies that identity - precise, polished, and built to resonate.
