In the run up to my return to Fabric this weekend, the club have kindly released the audio of my 2015 FABRICLIVE CD for free streaming on soundcloud (The first time it’s been available on any streaming platforms in any form)

The aim with the CD was to create a mix that you could return to & even though its almost eight years old (!) I feel that it still holds it own today 😋

Twelve of the twenty seven tracks were made specifically for the CD and still only exist on this mix (See each track with a * in the tracklist below)

The Ping Report 2025 is built almost entirely from community-sourced selections and productions, drawn from the MD Discord and beyond.

If you know my discography, this mix sits alongside Shared Meanings, Twists and Turns, Pinch B2B Mumdance and FabricLive 80.

Ping isn’t a genre. It's an approach to anchoring and propelling sound without relying on the steady pulse of a kick drum, instead using a “ping”  as a temporal scaffold 

A lot of the early Different Circles tracks had ping sounds running through them. When I played them on the radio, the Discord chat would often react with a meme of Momotaros, a Japanese devil character.

Over time, I started playing more pingy tracks just to trigger the meme. In 2023, I broadcast a moodboard show called The Ping Report, and from there, producers began sending in purpose-made ping tracks. That eventually led to the Ping Volume One compilation.

This 2025 Report is the ping sound evolved, shaped through two years of incubation and dialogue between a community of artists and listeners.

Thank you to everyone involved, especially the Discord crew. It’s been a joy to watch this grow so organically from a single meme. 😂
