I saw a man sleep on the churchhouse floor,  
The same one who sang at the protest before.  
He said, “They all cheer when the cameras are on,  
But I’m still out here when the mercy is gone.”

[Verse 2 – Bass joins]  
I met a girl with fire in her hair,  
Said she kissed a boy once, and they called her a slur.  
She lit a candle and whispered a hymn—  
“They’ll burn me out, but I still burn for them.”

A trans girl prayed in a truck stop stall,  
Counting the seconds ‘til no one would call.  
Said, “They say I'm wrong just for wanting to be,

A boy with a stutter wrote poems at night,  
Said, “They laugh when I speak, so I learned how to write.”  
Every line was a mountain he'd climbed with pride—  
And you could hear the thunder he kept inside.

I spoke to a mother, too broke to eat,  
But her baby was fed and wrapped up neat.  
She said, “I’ll go hungry for one more night—  
My child is the reason I still fight.”
