Channel Tres grew up in the Compton neighborhood of Los Angeles. His voice is effortlessly deep, as if Barry White didn't realize he was Barry White. "Controller", Channel's debut single on Godmode (Yaeji, Shamir), took classic Detroit house and reimagined it with the surly attitude of West Coast rap. Pitchfork, NPR, Gorilla vs. Bear, BBC Radio 1, Spotify, Apple, and KCRW were early champions, along with Australia's esteemed Triple J radio, who put "Controller" in full rotation.

In advance of his self-titled debut EP (out July 27 on Godmode), Channel blesses us with "Jet Black", another taste of his unorthodox union of four-on-the-floor and Compton. The song is an oozy ode to the blackest of black, over a ferocious modular synth instrumental that takes cues from industrial and early electro. "I never reply when you hit me/ I'm off the grid you can't get me" – it's hard not to feel invincible when this one plays. The video, directed by cult filmmaker Anthony Sylvester, captures Compton at its most contorted, where barbershops double as churches, where liquor stores become after-hours raves.

LA duo MUNNYCAT are back with another technicolor pop bop, "don't stop (drip drip drop)." It's an ode to the magical anything-can-happen vibes of the San Fernando Valley, driven by an unflinching, bratty synth melody, jangling guitars, and shape-shifting vocals over an easy-paced but utterly infectious beat.

MUNNYCAT says about "don't stop (drip drip drop)," "We wanted to make a song that was reminiscent of those dreamy, sexy summer nights that we've experience living [in the San Fernando Valley].  It's a hypnotic, girl-crush, keep-the-party-going song about those times where you see someone across the room and you just have to know who they are."

"don't stop" follows the singles "Go-Go A-Go-Go," an energetic amalgamation of sonic influences like surf rock, golden age hip-hop, and bossa nova; and the car-rattling, big beat-inspired "Check It," which earned instant praise from Milk, Ladygunn, Line of Best Fit, and Earmilk.

Since their last release, MUNNYCAT's music has been featured in a New Balance ad announcing the return of the classic 997s that's already racked in 2 million views, adding to their 100+ other commercial syncs which include Fenty Beauty, eBay, Google, and Target.

 MUNNYCAT is, in its totality, a two-person project; the well-seasoned producers (and real-life couple) that go by the names K808 + Khaledzou write, produce, and shoot and edit their own videos together, lending new meaning to the phrase 'dynamic duo.'
