Legend's Ghost is an internationally-recorded concept album project by Canadian/American composer/vocalist Cherelle-Renée Childs. Cherelle came up with the idea for Legend's Ghost in 2004 while singing with the progressive/symphonic metal band Prog-nosys and studying music at North Dakota State University. She was fascinated by the concept albums her bandmates showed her, but was disappointed that few of them had strong female characters. The desire to create a concept album with a central female character, as well as her fascination with the idea of combining classical, metal, and rock elements in the same album led her to develop the story line and music for a concept album. Cherelle spent the next few years developing her skills as a composer, lyricist, and vocalist and using the internet to recruit musicians from various cultures and musical backgrounds to help record the music. 

Legend's Ghost released its first full-length studio album, Gatekeepers, on November 16, 2014. The album depicts the story of an artist performing a ritual to meet her muse, the Songweaver and features a cast of 7 vocalists and 10 instrumentalists. Work is also in progress on another album, The Suicidal Immortal, as well as a single based on Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven."


Award-winning composer, native of North Texas, Mari Esabel Valverde, whose music has been reviewed as “heart-stopping” (BBC Music Magazine) and “of shimmering beauty” (The WholeNote), has composed art songs, chamber music, and works for chorus, orchestra, and wind ensemble. Recent projects include commissions for the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club. Aspiring to create music that emboldens people to unlearn shame, her works center the voices of historically marginalized authors and address questions of gender, sexuality, social justice, and love of the natural world. Currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she holds degrees from St. Olaf College, the European American Musical Alliance in Paris, France, and San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
