CLEFT REX is a raw, immersive sonic project from Northwest Indiana, led by Dani Mann and Dee Muhn, with AJR joining on select tracks. Dani and Dee started recording together in 2014 in Florida, eventually relocating to Dee Muhn’s hometown in Indiana in 2016, where the sound evolved into something louder, more defiant, and deeply personal.

Our upcoming release, Louder Than Leukemia, is more than just an album—it’s a battle cry. It’s a collection of tracks recorded from 2014 to now, pulled straight from the core of love, pain, survival, and noise. This project doubles as a fundraiser to support Dani’s fight with leukemia. The songs are brutal and beautiful, just like the journey.

Our sound draws from industrial punk, glitchcore, noise pop, and post-everything, with influences ranging from Kim Dracula to Machine Girl, SubRosa, and the wild energy of early 2000s experimental bands. We fuse analog synths, chopped-up vocals, hacked drum machines, and crashing reality into something cathartic and cinematic. You’ll hear dirty textures, broken loops, screams buried in reverbs, and melodies that carry both ghost and grit.

We aren’t just a band—we’re a living archive of chaos and hope. You can expect audio-visual experiments, bizarre live setups, and genre-defying tracks drenched in distortion, vulnerability, and gritty. We’ve worked out of basements, organ carcasses, and DIY spaces, building our instruments and scenes by hand. Our story bleeds into the music—scars, circuits, and all.
