A vinyl drum n bass mix inspired by the Blue Note - the legendary club night that Metalheadz used to host every Sunday. It was church. This is my take on the sound, inspired by old mixes from the club nights. These are some of my favourite tunes and I've tried to channel the feeling the Heads crew used to create back in the day. After 2 years, the SUB:MERGED mix series is back with a bang 💥 This time round we’ve invited none other than RK Bass Records head honcho, the mighty Jungalice to showcase her sound. We’ve been sitting on this one a while, ready to lift your spirits in this change of seasons.

Some words from the queen herself:

“So I actually recorded this mix back in February (Sloejoe living up to his name…) and I thought it would really suit SUB:MERGED because it’s a bit more of an exploration into the newer but more heavily breakbeat focussed sound of hardcore & jungle. Building from 150bpm gave me some scope to be a bit more adventurous and feature a few more acidic over tones that have been emerging in the scene over the last few years while also rinsing out some proper heavy amens and big basslines.

Balance - Samurai Breaks

I’ve chosen these cause I think they’re great examples of pushing the boundaries within breakbeat and being a bit weird, wonderful and wickedly wobbly, in true Cobra Sound fashion.”

PARALLAX RECORDINGS is proud to welcome Tim Reaper to make his debut for the label. 'Dead & Buried‘ turned many heads whenever played out with it´s horror samples and crazy mentazms. And if that wasnt enough darkness 'Journey To The Moon‘ doesnt feature any horror samples and is still just as pitch-black: relentless beats, heavy sub and rushing synths guarantee all hell gallops, without anything powerful enough to stop this beast. To balance the tension the positively uplifting 'Dope Break‘ combines the rough with the melancholic and has enough punch to light up any floor at peaktime. To close the EP in style Tim supplies a remix of On 1 Crew´s 'Bad Dreams‘, an obscure little number that LTJ Bukem used to play in 93 and which was the first release on Parallax in 2016. Tim effortlessly flipped it in no time and delivered this nutty jungle techno beast. Enjoy this 'terror brought down to earth'!
