UK-born, Berlin-based, J.Wiltshire (Hypercolour/Super Hexagon) returns to MUSAR for a deep excursion with Planet Mu's Konx Om Pax on remix duties.

The tracks came to fruition in Berlin during a time in society when everything was closed and there was a huge layer of uncertainty across the globe. "I was channelling my interest in the introspective side of trance and finding comfort in what I was creating. It was sort of like going back to using processes from when I first started making dance music."

With three original tracks on the EP, 'Luv 44' opens the EP with a pulsating boom-bap groove and atmospheric synth work via acidic licks from the SH-101. 'The Number Counters' boasts sporadic analogue delay with white-noise snare drums and haunting ostinatos. 'Trails' is a welcoming, sluggish roller that chugs into oblivion, making for an idyllic warm-up excerpt for the club.

On remix duties, special guest Konx Om Pax is summoned to bring his own interpretation of 'The Number Counters'. As an artist, you may recognise Konx Om Pax's visuals for Warp, Mogwai, Underground Resistance, OneohtrixPointNever, Hyperdub, Advanced Beauty and LuckyMe. Oftentimes when turning his hand to production, the Planet Mu signee develops the original elements and pushes them into new territory via a host of analogue effects chains. Among the mix is a hypnotic and continual breakbeat that dips in and out dynamically, plus a host of improvised effects that sporadically paint over the mix like a beautiful and chaotic tapestry.

The place was a ghost town; shop fronts were boarded up, rubbish littered the roads and barely a soul could be seen walking the streets. Society had come to a standstill and many obsessed over its return. Normality as they knew it was skewed and their sense of time warped. Now comfort and safety could only be found indoors; adjustments had to be made, every day life had to change.

Hypercolour affiliate and Super Hexagon boss made his debut on Amsterdam-based imprint MUSAR back in May last year with his first ever long player, 'Resa'. In contrast to this release, his newest outing for the label stretches beyond the immersive soundscapes heard on Resa and into the depths of trance, electro and acid.

Backed up by a remix from Planet Mu alumni, producer and visual artist Konx Om Pax, the three original tracks on 'Luv 44' still retain that introspective feel even though they're largely aimed at the dancefloor. Created during the pandemic when society came to a halt, the tracks channel J.Wiltshire's 'interest in the introspective side of trance', and represent a space he felt comfortable creating in at the time.

Throughout a decade Rico Casazza has developed a name with music that spans multiple genres. Diversity in music is his core. Nowadays he’s more known for his electro/IDM productions, but he’s also fond of techno, minimal, ambient, and electronica.

Although saying that an artist “does techno/electro/IDM” is something being heard thousands of times, Rico’s sound has a common characteristic recognised for recurring themes; to best describe it, it has to do with the nostalgic, melodic, ominous, deep music that brings you inside, yet is very energetic.

Having released about 19 EPs, 6 full albums, 15 remixes and more to come, composing music is his core force.

His carefully crafted sound has found home in Prague’s Moving Pictures label, in a form of a solid 4-tracker vinyl EP. Dive into its four chapters: “Emptiness Form” for a melancholic acid trip, “Ultramarine” for an aquatic techno-submarine immersion, or visit “Praslega” - an obscure yet lush sonic construction, along with “Jan25” - a mellow moody anthem.

When John Tejada releases new music, it's always a good moment for pricking up your ears. Like hardly anyone else, Tejada is always able to reinvent himself without losing the high recognition value. His brand new 3-tracker "Wild Ride" shows him without a doubt in spring mood. Opener "Vereor" is a good-humored, razor-sharp tech-funker in classic Tejada style. "Wild Ride" and "Infinism" harken back to the sound of the formative Kompakt years, when artists like Dettinger, Jonas Bering and SCSI-9 defined a new minimal sound that was as elegant as it was emotional, and which feels surprisingly contemporary again in Kompakt's thirtieth year.

"When Octo Octa sent us the demos for her first full-length record since 2013, we were floored by how many tracks were single worthy. But, there was one that stood out as something entirely on its own, a song that in many ways sounded like nothing Maya had ever released. Since the beginning, we always knew we wanted to do something special with "Adrift," the 8+ minute space-age synth-dub techno tune. When we asked Maya about doing a 12" with remixes we were blindsided to learn she has NEVER had any of her music remixed before. Today had been tiresome, each second feeling more like an hour. Within the four walls of her diamond white room she sat and waited. For what, she didn't know. All she ever did was wait. Alone in this space with nothing but her thoughts; nothing to focus her attention on except her hopes and her dreams, her successes and her failures. To inaugurate her new label Microdosing, French producer Julienne Dessagne aka Fantastic Twins, has enlisted some of her close friends to be part of the first volume, which takes the same name as the label. Julienne hails the imprint as 'a collective experiment aimed at helping you fighting back your modern obsession with happiness.' The release features tracks from a talented bunch of producers, including Manfredas, Smagghe & Cross, Autarkic, Naum Gabo and, of course, Julienne herself.
