Jo doesn’t really need much of an introduction considering she's been a mainstay in the Australian scene for a long time now, and for very good reason, but I'll do it anyway :) Her ability to spellbind with smooth genre blends with style and ease never ceases to amaze me.  She floats between dubstep, dnb, bass, techno & beyond.

Originally from Boorloo (Perth), she has been based in Melbourne/ Naarm for a decade, playing at the nation's biggest festivals & events, and having a hand in Camp Doogs (Perth) & Dooj (Melbourne). Beyond playing regularly in Melb/ Perth/ Australia, her divine DJ skills have traversed the oceans to the US & Europe.

So happy to have her as part of the series ahead of her 11pm-1am set at the Animalia x Temporal Cast party this weekend before Perko. Hope to see you all there :)

Stevie Whisper aka Stefan Unkovic is a DJ/producer, promoter and visual artist from Belgrade. 

Raised in the vibrant hard-core scene of the early '00s, he came to be one of the pillars of the city's underground culture whose reputation started spreading beyond through work with SuperSizeShe, a collective he formed as a vehicle for bringing the independent music scene closer to his hometown, booking acts such as Ariel Pink, Mac De Marco, Dirty Beaches, The Soft Moon among many others. 

In recent years he invested more energy in flirting with different genres of contemporary club-oriented music, being a regular in the DJ booths of Belgrade's most prominent underground clubs - 20/44 and Drugstore, putting his own Yes nights as well as various events with his Mystic Stylez crew and recently got released under the Common Thread immprint from Rotterdam. 

Summer of 2018 saw Yes expanding it's operations by launching a record label. The inaugural release is a split 12" from A/O and Andria, a collaborator on two tracks from the label's second release by Whisper himself titled Donkey Milk. 

Stevie is not just leaning towards the dancefloor, he is firmly on it but the DIY ethos is never out of the frame.

I love being pulled down into the dark depths just as much as I love being lifted up to the sky during a set, so I always strive to achieve that range in a very cohesive way while also not limiting myself to genre. One of my favorite things about DJing is figuring out how to make tracks work together that might not necessarily be the same vibe. I think that this is a great example of that for me."

“What is going to add to what's already happening that is going to elevate and add layers of complexity while still maintaining balance?” For Brooklyn-based DJ Nutrition Facts, who has also worked in kitchens for over a decade, this question is as applicable to DJing as it is to putting together an amazing dish. It's all about finding balance and figuring out what a particular ingredient (or sound) wants or needs to elevate it and take it to the next level. 

Whether it's melting the dancefloor with heady, trippy techno ambiance, getting a party moving with wiggly breaks, or somewhere in between, they live for the narrative arc – the highs, the lows, the emotion, the drama. They want the listener to be excited for what might come next, whether it's laughter, shedding a tear, or making that stank face when you hear a nasty track.
