Uber bring the new Mushrooms Project EP. A slight diversion for Uber into the cosmic afro infused musical stylings that the Mushrooms boys are masters. Madrugada's tribal energy is reminiscent of Tony Esposito or Tullio de Picopo. The Italian afrobalearic groove that we at Uber love so much. The Big Boobs is a slower more contemplative track, still holding onto the percussive feel but with hints of the east. I suspect the title is influenced by last summers trip to the Great Outdoors in Birmingham. Finally we come to the epic musical journey that is African Obsession. Continuing the fine Italian tradition of tribal dance music this is a tight superbly produced trip into afrocosmiche. 15 minutes of hypnotic beauty. Uber hitting the spot again.

Following on from their Record Store Day ‘Looped EP’ release, which featured remixes by Dauwd and Lubomyr Melnyk, Kiasmos – made up of Ólafur Arnalds and Janus Rasmussen – return with three new tracks and a remix by Tale Of Us.

Recorded in various locations including Reykjavík and Berlin, the EP opens with ‘Drawn’, a four-minute percussion fuelled track with gentle piano motifs. ‘Gaunt’ features the addition of ambient synths and a drum loop, underpinned by slow-moving chords. Title track ‘Swept’ which the duo offered to fans as a surprise gift in form of a free download card at previous show dates, showcases a more club-oriented beat structure alongside Kiasmos’ signature emotive instrumentation. 
 
Closing the EP is a remix from Berlin-based duo Tale of Us who met Kiasmos in London and twist the original downbeat title track
into their distinctively dark aesthetic. Pulsating hats and a driving bass loop add pace as the track builds toward an epic breakdown.

The ‘Swept EP’ will be released on 12”/DL via Erased Tapes on November 20th, 2015.

Back Together

This offering by Berlin-based, world-influenced label Disco Halal presents three tracks that 
result from the collaboration between the Brazilian DJs and producers Selvagem and Carrot 
Green (who combine releases on BIS Inc, Universal Cave, Hello Sailor, Barefoot Beats, 
Brazilian Shakedown and Magic Movement). Exploring local melodies from the 60’s and 70’s, 
they built tracks that turn those sounds in some sort of exotic techno beasts, only with that 
tropical flavor. This black magic-blessed EP opens up with Ossain’s killer strings, psyched-out 
vocals and percussive breakdowns, followed by Dengo, a slow burner based on a candomble 
chant that, along with the flute, cowbell, and clapping, puts the audience into a spell.The B-side 
brings Vandre, a throbbing 126-bpm track carried by a lovely guitar and singalong vocals by one 
of Brazil’s most iconic protest singer. The package is complete with the remix by the ever 
growing italian duo Marvin & Guy, who kept the hypnotic aura with their lush minimal sounds. A 
crossover release hard to pin down, but all around.
