This summer our campers had the opportunity to participate in a unique and exciting music program. Our younger campers experienced music in active and hands on workshops designed to teach kids about the fundamentals of music through engaging musical games and discussion. Our inter and senior village campers explored music & the elements of songwriting by writing original music and lyrics.

This album captures 11 of the songs written & recorded at Echo Lake this summer. The campers were guided by returning music head specialist PROVIDENCE DAVID, a NYC based professional musician, producer, & experienced music educator. providence is an exceptionally talented and positive minded person who brings tremendous integrity, passion, and skill to everything he does.

The Great variety of song on this album is testament to the boundless imagination of young people given the opportunity to speak, write, and sing.

The Music Ascension Program at Echo Lake is A collaboration of many young people working together to create something beautiful, something original, something funny, something powerful, and something of which they can be proud.

Founded in 1999 on the basic principle that children deserve to have their voice heard, Music Ascension empowers young creative minds, inspiring the musicians of tomorrow with the technology of today. Our mission is to foster creative, caring communities that instill enduring personal and professional growth in young people through musical engagement. Utilizing contemporary music technology and our staff of professional teaching artists, Music Ascension offers a unique approach to instruction with courses in songwriting, audio engineering, music production, instrumental music, chorus and general music that can be customized to meet your institution’s needs. 

Since our founding, Music Ascension has produced over 60 full length CDs and has inspired countless students. Our alumni have gone on to continue their musical studies at 2 and 4 year colleges and have returned to lead programs of their own. Our custom programs have been implemented in NYC Public schools, private schools, charter schools, NJ Schools of Special Education, non profit organizations, and traditional and Special Education residential summer camps. Music Ascension has been featured on WFUV’s Cityscapes, WBAI’s Wake Up Call, and in the American Camping Association’s November/December 2008 issue of Camping Magazine.
