Hollie Cook, one of reggae’s most exciting voices, makes a return to the label that released her cherished debut album in 2011. Landing back on Mr Bongo, 'Night Night' is a stand-alone aperitif and taster of what to expect from the next era in Hollie's musical journey. 

Revisiting her roots, this latest single embraces the trademark reggae / tropical pop sound Hollie found fame with on her first two albums. With a career that has gone from strength to strength since those formative days, the buoyance, charisma, and confidence gained in those subsequent years are on show for all to see.

Recorded at Crosstown Studios in London with the General Roots band and produced, mixed and dubbed by Ben McKone, ‘Night Night’ documents the longing of a lonely lover. Grounded in a sound system rattling bass line, strutting guitars and shimmering keys provide a sunshine-infused contrast. Hollie’s smooth sultry tones radiate throughout, backed by the legendary Horseman on toasting duties - a collaboration that hasn’t been heard since Hollie’s first album. Trading verses, the warmth of Hollie's velvety vocals balances Horseman's raw explosive energy in an absorbing harmony.

In true reggae style, the 7" single is backed with a classic dub mix, adding spacey reverb and delays, whilst giving Hollie and Horseman a more spacious streamlined flow in the mix.

J. Peacock is back for the Dirt Crew Summer take over once more! After his last collab release with Laurence Guy on “Shall Not Fade” in March this year we are delighted to welcome him again with four new deep and funky tunes.

“I’m Doing Just Fine”  is all about the strings. There's a certain feeling in northern soul records – cinematic, bittersweet – and sampling that energy became the starting point for the whole EP. On this track, the vocal hides just behind the strings, giving it a hazy feel. A loopy, dreamlike cut nods to the 2016 lo-fi house era. “Keep Running ” has a swelling, string-led groove built around a hypnotic soul sample. “Deep Burnt” is one of J. Peacock’s all-time favourite tracks and a big influence here. Urgent and euphoric, a driving rhythm with strings to carry the emotional weight.

“Can’t Go Nowhere” is a slower, more restrained moment on the EP. Inspired by the likes of Cottam, Mark E, and Tiger & Woods, this is a chugging, early-hours builder made for warm-up sets and low ceilings. A nod to the art of holding back just enough to keep people moving. “Hometime” brings together two of his favourite things: dusty soul samples and the raw grit of the MS-20. The analogue synth gives the track it’s edge, the bassline is constantly shifting and alive while the smoothness of the sample keeps everything in check.

Martin Luciuk, Nightly Closures - Lucid Grooves

Storken, the alias of Swedish producer Thomas Henriksson, is determined to redefine the electronic scene with a nostalgic yet forward-thinking sound. Hailing from the village of Hackås, his musical roots run deep nurtured by 80s icons like Phil Collins and Queen, and shaped through years of playing drums, guitar, and piano.

His breakout track "Lille Vals", released on Gerd Janson’s Running Back label, quickly gained support from titans of the industry like The Blessed Madonna, Pete Tong, or Annie Mac. With a unique fusion of italo, Swedish prog, and house, Storken crafts music that’s warm, analog-rich, and irresistibly danceable.

His acclaimed EP Skogsdisko and follow-up releases like Totoish, The Barn or Roach Boy most recently, showcase his knack for groove-heavy melodies and retro textures. Beyond the studio, Storken’s live sets bring his eclectic taste to life, making him a standout on dance floors across the globe.

Music For Dreams are proud to present Copenema’s new album Hoje, to be released June 27th.
 
Copenema is the collaborative project masterminded by Brazillian multi-instrumentalist Rodrigo Sha. The essence of the music is Brazilian, both in its rhythms and moods. Yet it traces a clear course from the samba of Rio de Janeiro to the Balearic Beat of Ibiza, through a pit stop in the northern city of Copenhagen, picking up new influences, production styles and collaborators from the Music For Dreams roster.
 
Hoje, meaning “Today”, is Copenema’s third album and features twelve songs: eleven originals written by Sha and a bossa-nova cover version of ‘Love Is In The Air’. The sound of the album is joyful and wholesome, with Sha’s saxophone, flute, guitar and unique Carioca voice adding many deep colors the sweet harmonies and sunny beats.
 
The album features producers and instrumentalists including DJ Disse, Walt Default, DJ Pippi, Grassskirt, OliO, The Swan And The Lake, Kenneth Bager, Reinhard Vanbergen, Gabriel Moura, and other names.

The release is supported by Koda’s Cultural Funds and Musik Forlæggerne.
