Failure To Comply

"Town Path" was originally created back on September 7, 2022, over a year prior to its release. Nothing about this song was particularly difficult to create; it could have easily been released much earlier.

For a very long time, the working title was simply "Town", and the idea of changing it to "Town Path" was first considered on March 23. I only changed the project title on the release date.

Musically, "Town Path" is very minimalist, which is a deliberate break from the dense production I usually gravitate towards.

C’est une bicoque toute en pierres
Surplombée de montagnes
Perchée là-haut dans les airs

Quelques arbres et de l’herbe
Des fleurs pour décorer
Le rendu est superbe

C’est un endroit insolite, qui se trouve loin de tout 
Pas vraiment le grand confort, mais de la chaleur humaine 
De l’amour sans compter et un décor de fou
Et pour voir les étoiles, on s’allonge dans la plaine

Il y a une table pour midi
À carreaux jaune poussin
Ornée de broderies
Où trône déjà le pain

À côté, une falaise
Nous offrant une belle vue

Très haut et bien trapu

the story of the envellop 
was so much bigger than the letter 
my body is a temple of which the roof collapsed

it is a butterfly's achievement 
to blindly follow rules 
etched deeply in its intestines 
with the tiniest of needles

the deed was done 
the story written 
had a lot to be thankfull for 
but noone to thank
dreams don't dream themselves no more 

each one tries to fit in the previouses footprints 
tries to repeat what doesn't repeat 
footprints are too tight or just a bit too wide 
i guess we'll have to dream some more 

all of us have a past, we can only dream a future 
i have seven dreams a minute 
and they all split up in two, or three, or four, or more 
i grasp to keep them with me 
to read before dispose 
i just don't have the eyes for it 
its a freakin' overdose

A Butterfly's Achievements

I am a composer that is classically trained with broad interest and experience in world musics. MM New England Conservatory '86, BM University of Massachusetts at Amherst '76.

My compositions have won awards from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, New England Reed Trio International Chamber Music Composition Competition, a Bryant Fellowship from Harvard University, and a certificate from the 21st Century Music Project Competition of the the International Center for Japanese Culture in Yokohama, Japan. My works have been performed across the United States, Europe and Japan.

As a composer, I am interested in considering commissions and collaborations. Performing scores and parts are available to all my works here on SoundCloud through Universal Edition, J. W. Pepper Music, Frank Warren Music Service, or by contacting me.
