Marcel Vogel aka Em Vee, needs no introduction! 

Label owner of both Lumberjacks in Hell & Intimate Friends, Marcel has been releasing killer disco & gospel orientated house music for well over a decade now, with the LIH label now running at 43 releases deep!

I've always been a fan of Marcel's DJ sets and was a regular follower of his show on Amsterdam’s Red Light Radio where he hosted some of my favourite DJs including Motor City Drum Ensemble, Hunee, Mendel and Rahaan. 

When he approached me about doing a guest mix I was absolutely thrilled to have him on board and this mix does not disappoint! Running at just over 2 hours, Marcel spins disco, funk, house & lots more and delivers some serious party vibes! 💃

This week on the guest mix we welcome 
Leo K from Berlin.

I first got in touch with Leo after reading his selection list in the Melodies Melozine 🎈 he posts some great records on his page and I knew his taste would be a great fit for Musical Metaphors.

We spoke to Leo who had this to say about his inspirations and the mix he’s put together;

“I am Leo K, 25 years old, Berlin-born and raised and I grew up on a wide variety of musical styles. With my first clubbing experiences in the early to mid 2010‘s, at a time when Berlin was still in a firm grip by monotonous 4/4 Tech House, I always favoured the idea of playing a wider variety of music just as ecclectic as the usual music-lovers listening palette. While the parameters may have changed since then, and I personally went through a heavy Modern Soul and Disco phase - which in return informed my dj‘ing to a large part - that general idea of playing slightly off the grid still sticks with me. 

Nowadays I like to throw open air partys with my old high-school mates under the Plastic Flowers moniker and I run the “Dreams For Sale“ morning show on the amazing Munich-based community station Radio 80000.

For this particular mix I took a couple of the slower and mid-tempo soul tunes - the ones I usually like to hear on an early morning dance floor - and hit record.”

Mauve, whose name is inspired by the French purple, is a Leipzig newcomer. Originally a musician, he collected vinyl and started mixing records since Covid came up. He has recently played at a number of events and venues in Leipzig as well as Halle and is now looking forward to playing b2b with our own Kon at Tarmac Festival in September.

His sound evolves organically through different genres and styles such as minimal Tech-House, Breaks, Electronic 80s, Disco and Jazz.

Sometimes it doesn't need a lot of introduction, so we wish everyone a pleasant start into the weekend with this new Vacanza Radio. If you can, check out the Vacanza Rave Truck at Global Space Odyssey this Saturday!

After starting her bar job there back in 2011 she asked to use the club's setup to practice her DJ skills and while she got better and better the ://about blank took its chance and made her a resident DJ of the Club in 2016. This, among many other stories, proof how much ://about blank is more than a club but at first its a family.
