As Christmas is just around the corner we thought it was only right that we bring you one final mix of the year.  This year we’ve welcomed DJs from across the globe but this week we delve into the collection of a DJ who’s slightly closer to home, Manchester’s own, Yadava! @yadavasoflute

Yadava is a Manchester based musician, producer and DJ. As a co-founder of long-standing Mancunian club night @soflutemcr a community focussed party with an open music policy, Yadava’s sound draws upon soulful rhythms and grooves with an inflection towards jazz-influenced and percussive sounds. Yadava has released music on labels such as @church_label @tru_thoughts_  @omenarecords @anmarecordslondon @banoffeepiesrecords, XVI Records, and local label @adhocrecords with support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Osunlade, Nemone, Crazy P, Moxie and features from Mixmag, Stamp The Wax and more. The self-described instrument fumbler and radio mumbler also hosts a bi-monthly radio show ‘Expansions’ on NTS Manchester alongside fellow Manchester producer and studio collaborator @contoursmusic 

Yadava has also recently launched a new label & party  @allkindsofjoy.mcr which kicks off with its first party on 4th Feb at audiophile hifi bar @nammcr DJs @admin_bristol & fellow So Flute man @danuka1990 will be sharing the decks with Yadava so you can expect an eclectic night of sounds spanning jazz, world, disco, funk & more. Also 100% of the profits from the night will be donated to local charity Kids of Colour so make sure to grab a ticket as it’s set to be a top night! 

Before you get stuck into Yadava’s ‘Piano Mix’ he had a few words to say about it;

“For this mix I pulled together some records from my collection that heavily feature piano, or that won me over with their piano parts. Featuring classic recordings and some more under the radar the mix moves through some solo piano pieces, library sounds, classic jazz trio sets, modern compositions, jazz-funk for the dancefloor and some of my favourite house cuts that feature piano.”
