This week, our mix comes from La Presidenta. Originally from Puerto Rico but a Manchester local for the last decade, La Presidenta has been a regular on the UK radio circuit, hosting monthly shows on Reform Radio and Rainy City Radio. 

La Presidenta's show 'De Rumba' is a monthly global exploration through the sunny diaspora of Latin and West African rhythms.

'This mix is meant to be a journey.  It takes you from traditional/classic Latin and African sounds through to many modern incarnations of Latin music.  It represents how I select at a party with the sole intention of making people dance and smile.'

Midori Hirano aka MimiCof is a Berlin-based musician, composer and producer. The basis of her productions are acoustic instruments such as piano, strings, or guitars, subtly melded with an experimental and eclectic mixture of modern digital sounds, electronic processing, and field recordings. Her recent works have been released by labels such as Sonic Pieces, Daisart, Alien Transistor, Longform Editions, Dauw and Karlrecords. Here,  we are honoured to share a mix from Midori of highly intuitive abstract music and minimal electronic music.

Perpetually obsessed with proving the futility of binaries, Lou Drago is drawn to the spaces between analogue and synthesised sounds. In their sets Lou Drago aims to provide a space for contemplation and introspection, offering a pause from the anxiety of neoliberalism through ambient, strange and relaxing sounds. They aim to summon imagery of speculative queer and postgendered futurities through evoking sci-fi, space, drone and ambience. Drago hosts a monthly show on Cashmere Radio based in Berlin called Transience, each time inviting a different artist to respond to their concept to create an hour of anxiety relief from hetero-patriarchial systems of oppression.

Lou drago's set was recorded live at Room 4 Resistance on March 16th, 2019. Catch them in the cinema at our next event on June 8th, 2019 !
