On the morning of January the 6th, 20 years ago, my mother woke me up saying some of the simplest and saddest words I will never forget: "Michel Petrucciani is dead". It is an indelible memory that still conditions my existence, even right now.
At that point in my life I've been already listening to his music for years, and even attended to a solo concert of him just months before. Always fascinated by his powerful mix of love, sadness, tenacity, pain, fear, passion and, most of all, immeasurable joy. Sadly, I was too young to completely understand the deepness of his music and personality, but I'm deeply grateful that I have been able to listen to him at least once in my life nonetheless.
His music (and, somehow, his "way of life") has profoundly influenced my existence both as a musician and a human being, but for some time I've actually "forgot" him some years after his death. I stopped listening to his music for some reason, until somebody surprisingly brought him back into my life.
After a lot of study I realized how much he has been an unconscious inspiration in my life, and this is an involuntarily and humble hommage I made him about a year ago, as I was thinking about and inspired by "that" wonderful mix of love, sadness, tenacity, pain, passion, fear and joy.
