Peter Adjaye soundtrack for David Adjaye's ELEKTRA HOUSE for his MUSICFORARCHITECTURE project 'Dialogues' released on VINYLFACTORY RECORDS on 1st July 2016.

ABSORBTION
The composition leads with minimal percussive sounds that represent the absorption of light by the dark front facade of this house. As the piece develops, shards of chords and strings emulate the light rays that start to flood the space as you move through the house from the many skylights and roof lights situated throughout. These chords progressively mutate, transform and start to move and push as a way of pointing at the numerous occurrences of light sources from many different angles: from the centre, above the space to then finally skywards following the light source. The other pointers in the track are church bells, sung excerpts from the Torah and then the Koran representing the chronological establishment of the settlers in this part of London, which has absorbed Christians, Jews and then Muslims communities.

Peter Adjaye aka AJ Kwame is a contemporary conceptual sound artist, specialising in experimental soundscape design for installations and cross disciplinary collaborations. He is a musicologist, composer, DJ-producer, musician and, a Mathematician with a PHD. His unique set of skills and vast experience have enabled him to work closely with his brother, the award winning architect, David Adjaye OBE, for over 10 years. This work has culminated in a new publication, ‘Dialogues’ on MusicforArchitecture Records in association with The Vinyl Factory. Peter has exhibited his unique sound installations In places Such as The Design Miami, Tate Modern, Design Museum, Art Institute Of Chicago, Somerset House, Studio Museum Harlem.
