Crazy P(enis) will be forever associated with the glory days of Paper Recordings. As the acid house fever dream started to fade, a new generation of ravers took the ball and ran with it for a more groove-driven sound. The band and label were part of the pack.

Paper Recordings first met Jim, Chris and Tim when they were fresh off the boat from North Wales and Nottingham, with a sampler tucked under their arms and a bag full of amazing demos. The first release soon led to their album, 'A Nice Hot Bath With...', which wrote the blueprint for what would become known as nu-disco. Sample heavy and great musicianship fed by late nights on the dance floors of Manchester made it an instant classic.

The band grew with the addition of Danielle Moore's lead vocals and star power. On their next album, The Wicked Is Music', the sound consolidated into the one that has gone on to conquer the world. House, disco, broken beats, funk and pop are all mixed into a heady mix of forward facing dance music.

The Early Years compilation charts their rise from of their early catalogue of ground-breaking productions.

Pete Herbert drops the second release on Paradise Row - the imprint he and Dicky Trisco set up to release their own output. 
Mango Moon is a very Herbertesque number pumped full of musical influences from House to Italo to Disco, but with an eagle eye at all times on driving the dance floor really wild. Pedro demonstrates his years of experience as both a producer and a DJ in a track that captures so much of the territory he has covered in both guises over the years. With its pumping live disco underbelly, its melodic Italo-style keys riding on top and its rock solid drums, it really is a very classy production by a DJ producer who knows where he wants to go and how to get us all there at the same time.
Meanwhile on the flip, his label and DJ compadre Dicky Trisco flips the track in a live disco direction with an epic take of his own that throws more than a few surprises into the mix. Dicky teases the dancefloor with a long build up but just wait until those wicked keys by Faze Action’s Robin Lee drop in.  Quality stuff.

Nashville's dusty funkateers Magic In Threes return to RNT Reserve with a triptych of low-strung grooves, each complimented by a superlative remix. Chupa Cabra, a sweet soulful joint, is reimagined as a devilishly pulsating and funky burner by RNT mainstays @justsayfouk on their remix. Parisian @patchworks takes the 70s-cop-show funk of Work Tapes straight to Nigeria with a beautifully crafted highlife remix. Finally there's Come On Down, reminiscent of classic Donald Byrd in the Larry Mizell days, which is beefed up and readied for the dance floor by analog wizard @lay-far. A lovely package for listening, or bumping!
