Deep in the city of Porto Portugal, lives the groove floating dialogue of a modern funk artist known as SAIR. His debut self-titled album displays his natural ability to let the groove unfold in his arrangements. In a landscape of rising G Funk arrangements, SAIR's peeks through the horizon with an EP woven together with as many natural drum arrangements as there are programmed drum arrangements, giving listeners a diversity we haven't heard much of since post disco's golden era of 1980-83. SAIR's songwriting ability moves the conversation forward with intricate drums framing beautiful chords and passionate synths, that give SAIR a voice that will move many in the worldwide community of modern funk and beyond.

Second single from the Pendleton's hotly anticipated upcoming "Funk Forever" EP, dropping March 30th on Bastard Jazz.

The Pendletons are a long-standing boogie-funk and modern soul project of E da Boss (of Myron and E on Stone's Throw) and Trailer Limon. The group emerged with their very first release in 2010, a 7" inch of "Coming Down/Waiting On You" on the Slept On record label, which set the tone for the group to emerge... it instantly became a cult classic receiving constant play at nights like Sweater Funk and Funkmosphere, and fetching for serious sums among collectors. Most recently, in 2016, they released the EP “Gotta Get Out”. The title track caught the ear of renowned DJ Gilles Peterson, who liked it enough to release it on his Brownswood Bubbler compilation.

In 2018 the group is hitting the ground running with a brand new EP out this spring, and a full-length album to follow later later in the year on the renowned Bastard Jazz label. Now armed with a horn section, a vast array of accomplished jazz and funk contributors, and a knack for quality song-writing, the Pendleton’s sound has shaped into something fresh and unique, setting it apart from the legions of imitators.

"Stand up and be counted! Speak the truth from your heart! Spread the word about love and marriage equality!

I've been banging on about my new single, "Be Free With Your Love", for quite some time. The inspiration for it came from the news I read about the struggle for same sex marriage all over the world from Australia, where I started writing the song, to the USA, France and beyond. The fight continues today with protests in Paris and the argument being debated in Washington DC. Even in far flung places like Uganda, the freedom to be your true self is under siege.

So, for the time being, as a sign of solidarity, I decided to put up the full stream of "Be Free With Your Love" on my Soundcloud page ahead of its official release. I wrestled with myself about the idea of doing this because I think the fight should not be commercialized.

However, music can be transforming as it was in the spirit of the late 60s, early 70s and mid 80s, when some songs were written with the express purpose of sending a message to the world about certain causes and events. Whether they are protest songs, songs of hope, something thought provoking, or simply ones that make people happy and have a little boogie on the dancefloor, they take on more personal meanings for many while the battle wages on.

Several close friends have suggested I make the connection known between "Be Free With Your Love" and the inspiration behind it. The title was even co-opted from a news article about gay people from two different countries being threatened with deportation because the federal government doesn't recognize their relationship.

Being a proud, openly gay man for nearly three decades, as well as someone who would like the naturally given right to marry the person of my choice, I gave in and decided to share this song today. I've rambled on enough!
