Music SA is a not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting, supporting and developing contemporary music in South Australia.

the dub division (ex No Birds) is the dub-cross-glitch brainchild of Justin McArthur, also known as Let's Be Modern (for his techno act) and is one third of post punk discotheque band Question Question. Justin himself has been performing since the early 90s in various house, techno and acid outfits, during which time he has shared the spotlight with the likes of Jeff Mills, Ben Sims, Derek May, Tobias Schmitt, David Bridie, Steve Bug, Mistress Barbara, Ian Pooley, DJ Misjah, D.A.V.E the Drummer, Speedy J and Chris Liebling.

Originating in 2008 as a home studio project, it wasn't until 2012 that No Birds was brought to the public with the debut EP, Tin Can, released on Pilot Records. Having been well received locally, No Birds has continued to perform throughout Adelaide from the Tin Can EP launch through to 2013, with the recent inclusion in local street press RIP IT UP MAGAZINE's 'Hot Six', a list of Adelaide's most promising emerging artists, reassuring the Justin is on the road to success.

Justin describes No Birds as a true reflection of himself, an effortless and free flowing method of composition inspired by his love of 70s dub, Afrobeat and Electronic Music. The result is a dark, post-apocalyptic soundscape of seemingly endless space - but feelings of hope and aspiration at the same time - perhaps No Birds is actually the sound of new beginnings, where the grief of disaster lingers but the optimism of the future shines through like a solitary flower in a greyscale environment…

Regardless, No Birds is sure to have you captivated both live and on record. Speaking of which, a full length album is currently underway and all going to plan will be available for your aural pleasure in 2013..!!

With delicate dancing melodies and exotic imaginings Adelaide's Oisima has found a global audience with his emotionally connective, original productions. 

His third release & debut full length album 'Nicaragua Nights' was released through Create/Control Records in 2015.

From his debut EP “Dusk Till Dawn” to his semi-regular mix tapes ‘Jewels of Thought’ his follow up “Goddess” EP  & full length 'Nicaragua Nights' Oisima, the moniker of Anth Wendt, has created his own palate of sonic colours - a finely tuned blend of contemporary soul, mixing Middle Eastern influences with a rich background in Jazz and a love for blues and bass, Oisima crafts his own intangible universe of startling sounds.

From regularly selling-out his club night shows to playing on some of the countries biggest stages; an acclaimed spot on the Splendour In The Grass Redbull Music Stage, Big Day Out, and Adelaide’s WOMAD Festival as well as touring nationally with the likes of Bonobo & St Germain and supporting the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, Shigeto and Knxwledge. 

Oisima interprets and lifts his distinctive music from a headphone and immersive experience to a dance floor enticing performance. Pulling out bass lines and deftly manoeuvring melodies on a MPC, his remarkable productions translate perfectly to a sunlit-stage or a basement club sound system.

Bad//Dreems were born during an Adelaide heatwave in the summer of 2012. Ben Marwe, Alex Cameron, James Bartold & Miles Wilson began playing together in a whitegoods warehouse on the banks of the River Torrens, a drop punt away from the West End Brewery. 

Their first release, the Badlands EP led to attention from TripleJ & US college radio. The debut LP Dogs At Bay (2015) & follow up Gutful (2017), both produced by Mark Opitz, cemented their place as one of the most exciting Australian guitar bands of recent times. They’ve toured extensively both in AUS and abroad, appearing at Splendour in the Grass, Falls & Laneway festivals & supporting acts such as Midnight Oil, At The Drive In, The Avalanches, Wolf Alice, Scientists & Cold Chisel. 
2019 saw the addition of long time live member engineer Ali Wells to the band. 

Their 3rd album, ‘Doomsday Ballet’ is due for release October 18 2019, which was recorded in Adelaide with production from Burke Reid & Jack Ladder.

Pilot Records is an independent record label founded in Adelaide, Australia in 2012, also where the label is currently based. The label is most notable for releasing music of live electronic nature while maintaining the use of more traditional ‘band’ instruments such as guitar, bass, drums etc – something that the label likes to refer to as ‘hybrid electronic' or 'live electronic' music.
