Mark Mywords has been a prominent figure in the Dutch electronic music landscape for quite some years now. As a resident of the infamous Techno Tuesdays nights at Melkweg- and a producer with releases under his belt on well respected labels such as Soulful Techno, Orange Recordings, Minitech Recordings and Manual Music / Manual Deep, Mark always brings quality to the table, without being pinned down in one particular genre.

Now it's time for the first of two confirmed releases on Francesco Pico's Magnitude Recordings this year. 'Links' features three brand new originals which are balancing between the deep- melodic and progressive house genres. 2020 was a year when we all needed beams of light at the end of the longest, darkest tunnel the world had found itself in decades. Instinctively, the Selador community rose to the challenge, none more so than Kiz Pattison & Micah, whose collaborative debut was a massive breakout tune from our Tenth Chapter showcase EP.

As DJ streams and dancing on impromptu dancefloors at home became the norm, Beam of Light became a regular feature in many a lockdown soundtrack, a major tune for the likes of Sasha, Anthony Pappa and of course our own directorship, Seaman & Parry. So with the vaccines arolling, club and festival dates being firmed up in our diaries and that beam of light seemingly growing brighter by the day, what better way to celebrate than with a top drawer remix package?

Booom! We are delighted to welcome Brazils techno don Renato Cohen back to Selador. Here he zeros in on the first of the original mixs killer hooks, the 80s styled motif that starts and ends the track, and builds an electro throbber that sounds like the Human League through a sparkling rave filter.

Oooof! Kiz & Micah then themselves deliver a new take, the 4am Dub, a darker, moodier interpretation of their original, showing off their deeper tendencies, like a big sister luring you over to the darker recesses of the dancefloor.

Pow! Long-time friend of Selador Robert Babicz, takes the hook from the originals showpiece drop and delivers a low slung breaks driven re-rub custom made for all you dubwise bass bin lurkers. And theres more its a Babicz double drop as he tenders an ambient mix that gives all those magical synth layers maximum room to breathe, gently building on the breeze.

Kerching! Were not finished yet! Its VFM time as Kiz and Micah deliver a brand new bonus track, the afroacidtechfunk workout that is The Key. Not to be missed, this beauty deserves its own moment in the spotlight, twisting and turning its way to instant earworm central.

And there you have it, the futuress so bright we gotta wear shades.

Spring is here and we are happy to present to you a new EP courtesy from Yöurr, producer and DJ based in Hungary, with two original tracks: "New Transitions" and "Broken Barriers". And that's not all, in this pack we also included a remix of French duo Pandhora for "New Transitions" that is intended to fill our spirits with energy.

The first track "New Transitions" is a sound progression that brings us closer. it's an intimate, deep and spatial state of fulfilment. A sound experience full of emotions, dreamlike sensations and euphoria.

"Broken Barriers", the second track, has the magical characteristic of taking us to a universe of colours far from the isolation caused by the pandemic. This track materializes the energy we need to return to the dancefloor; turning percussions and synthesizers into the desire to feel free through dance again.

The last track is a solid reshape by Pandhora for "New Transitions". It's loaded with elements that make us travel to the best memories we have. It's an invitation to put our eyes on the future. 

We have missed the magical ritual of dancing surrounded by people but the dreamy breakdown of this piece is the perfect spell to fill that void.

Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Ric Niels back to the label for his debut EP entitled 'Mermaid'. Having first appeared on the Greek imprint earlier this year with a contribution to the label's Technical Progress, Vol. 11 collection, the Argentinean artist has continued to impress with releases via Clubsonica Records, Dopamine White and Mango Alley. At still under a year into his journey as a producer, Ric now returns to Movement for his first artist EP alongside a remix from Ziger.

The release begins with the upbeat progressive vibes of the title selection. Smooth and groovy throughout, it carries a sleek hypnotic quality at the outset. Moving through layers of detailed percussion and frantic arps, as vocal overlays and emotive stabs push energy into the main break. The vocal narrative expands across the centrepiece, set against a backdrop of warm bass swells and glowing pads, effortlessly building energy into a euphoric key changing finale.

The lone interpretation of 'Mermaid' is provided by Ziger who returns to the label for his eighth appearance. As one of Movement's primary contributors for many years, the Greek artist has also found a home on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music, Beatfreak, ICONYC and his own Eat My Hat imprint. Now presenting his first remix of 2021, Ziger returns to Movement with a massive rendition of 'Mermaid'. Opting for more of an astral techno vibe, the Greek artist focuses on a darker, more electric narrative, resulting in a great complement to the original. Commanding yet mysterious, it's fiery percussion, growling stabs and machine gun style groove make for an intense first act. Although used sparingly, the vocal breathes beautifully as the main break evolves, complementing a fuzzy arp which ultimately propels the track to a thunderous conclusion.

The second selection 'From the Sky' follows a similar sonic ethos to its predecessor and resonates on an equally impressive level. Remarkably emotive, it's fluid, key changing bass commands attention, moving through rolling contours and rhythmic pulses, while clattering percussion and haunting vocals add further spice to the groove. Ethereal atmospheres initiate the main break, eventually melting down to a reservoir of glassy arps and gated vocals, perfectly setting the stage for a dynamic final movement.

The release is capped off in fine fashion with the deeper moods of 'Deep in the Sea'. Marrying nostalgic progressive sensibilities, Ric layers rolling rhythmic structures with percussive waves and cosmic effects. It's a unique and highly engaging storyboard, one which resonates on a deeper level where the subtleties command your attention and make for a mezmerizing conclusion. It rounds out three excellent productions from Ric, who makes his first EP for Movement Recordings a most memorable one.
