Have you heard the story of the magistrate that tried to outwit the Old Man of the Moon?” Minli nodded, “He tried to kill his son’s destined wife, but they ended up together anyway.” “Ah, you know the story.” The king smiled. “That magistrate was my greatgreat-grandfather’s father. And this city is the city that his son became king of through the marriage. “So the story is real!” Minli said. “Well, it is a story that has been passed through my family for generations,” the king said. “But there’s more to it than what most have heard.”. Schörmann’s showing us the road to the City of bright Moonlight. This is his first offering for Shango Records. These two tracks can wake up your senses and heal your body. As we move into spring season, we're super excited to welcome based Three Records head honcho Gareth Schörmann to NYLO LAB with a brand new 3 track EP titled 'A&D' to warm the hearts. 

We kick things off with 'Machina' which features an amalgamation of smooth bass tones, subtle drum programming, a cleverly chopped samples and intricately weaved chord progressions, building to a beautiful breakdown before gradually transforming the elements to an unrelenting crescendo of breathy synth licks, chord stabs and an ever-warped bassline.

Next up is the title track 'A&D' which is a stripped back affair utilizing a hypnotizing chord as the basis of the track underpinned by a staccato rhythm that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect. 80's sound design redone for 2023. Fantastic stuff!

Last but not least Gareth drops 'Code' to close out his fine debut on NYLO LAB in style, showcasing beautiful melodies and luscious drum programming to create a lovely grove, which really augments the flow of the track. Gareth shows his love for melodic and deep FX, which are oozing of coolness and are accentuated by warm pads that feel like a silky blanket of sonic spheres, which wrap you into an alluring soundscape. 

Gareth Schörmann's 'A&D EP' is a lovely mind-bending collection of tracks that are wrapped in a smooth blanket of warming sounds for the melodic house loving sound aficionado. We are extremely happy to once again be bringing you a high-quality NYLO LAB release that was made from the heart and for the whole universe to enjoy. Keep on dancing!!

Iconic figures of the modern progressive house scene, GMJ and Jiminy Hop now join forces for a debut collaborative release in the shape of “Caladan / Frozen Mind”.

With over 800 production credits to their collective names, GMJ and Jiminy Hop have both been at the vanguard of the underground dance scene for over a decade. With the Russian star accounting for a pair of high-profile releases on GMJ & Matter’s flagship label, “Johlin” and “Levera / Agmoli” saw Jiminy Hop showcase a quintet of original tracks in March and September 2022. GMJ then went onto remix “Levera” with co-label head, Matter, in November 2023. A veteran of releases on such blue-chip labels as Univack, Songuara, Plaisirs Sonores and Paul Thomas’ UV, Jiminy Hop has never strayed far from the limelight.

Now GMJ and Jiminy Hop come together for the first time in collective partnership with “Caladan” represented by a powerful and fluid sonic landscape that is propelled forward by a huge, cone-melting bassline. Redolent in trademark rolling groove, hi-hats shuffle in club-friendly urgency while smooth rising pads build alongside a spine-tingling arpeggio. Opening-up with filtered intensity at the beatless mid-point, the track builds once more with an eerie intensity that is an apposite reflection of its mythical title.

Partner track, “Frozen Mind”, continues the flowing percussive narrative, while a strong bassline groove immediately adds intensity and gravitas. Evolving with chest-thumping kick and shuffling shaker pattern, a glorious arpeggiated synth line ripples gently across the early phases before building in strength at the breakdown where it builds to a rousing zenith alongside a vibrato synth motif. Vocal touches echo in stereo-panned glory as “Frozen Mind” erupts once more into a seething dancefloor destroyer in the third movement.

Flooded with gently flowing melody that rains from the sky, GMJ & Jiminy Hop reign supreme over “Caladan / Frozen Mind”.

Besides the original mix, the release features 2 outstanding reworks from label all-star Allies for Everyone & Swiss sound virtuoso Black Space, who bring us their gorgeous take on the original and put a smile on our faces while doing so.

On his ICONYC debut, Schörmann indulgences us with his spectacular original of 'The Sky is Still There'. A beautiful track that brings nothing but joy in these unusual & strange times.
