'do not go gentle into that good night [Outro]'

This piece of work is taken from a scene in 'Interstellar' a science fiction movie by director, Christopher Nolan. The music in the background is produced by the legend, Hans Zimmer, while the poem is narrated by the actor, Michael Caine.

I chose this as the outro to this mixtape because this project started from depression and finished in depression.
From 2017 to 2020, I have been depressed like never before.
Many times I have thought and attempted to end my life.
But, I am still here, doing what I love to do... & it honestly doesn't even matter to me if I make it as an artist, or if I get filthy rich in a few years or reach stardom. All I want from this platform of music is to reach to those who have similar fears, regrets, depression, traumas, guilt or any sort of pain, and maybe somehow comfort them by just identifying with them. It might only be for a few seconds or minutes, but in that time, they will not be alone. & neither will I.

This poem, "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" is a poem written by Welsh poet Dylan Thomas. It was written by Thomas for his dying father and is still one of Thomas' most popular poems today.

In the poem, life is symbolized by light and death is symbolized by the night and darkness. It refers to all kinds of men ("Wise men", "Good men", "Wild men", and "Grave men") and how they did not achieve all the things they wanted to. As a result, they all "Rage, rage against the dying of the light" and resist their deaths. At the end of the poem, Thomas encourages his father to do the same and fight and protest his death.

In essence, I think this poem can apply not only to old age and death, but to any adversity we face. We should not give up so easily and always go down kicking. In any endeavor we choose to pursue and any struggles we face, we should persevere and remember to "not go gentle into that good night" whether the 'good night' is failure, or death. So even though this project has finally come to an end, I shall not let it be my last. Even if the night gets lonely or horrifying or sad, I will not give up so gently, I will rage, and rage against the dying of the light.
