A Dank 'N' Dirty Dubz veteran, having released music on the label since its inception, sMILOdon is a Minneapolis-based producer and DJ that has refined and defined his psychedelic bass style as something truly original. Over the past year, he has handcrafted the seamless 13-track 'Shaman LP', which takes the listener on journey through a trippy amalgamation of genres, passing through thumping tribal percussion, shamanic chants, experimental instrumentals, and, to conclude, a tribute to the legendary Psybient duo, Shpongle, which has clearly had some level of influence on this amazing album.

VI is a mysterious new project based around the symbol visualized in the artwork. The artist behind this project is already established in the scene, but wanted to take a step back and focus on his production and writing skills. Together with Grammy award winner @Nikki-Cislyn and stunning newcomer @PoppyAjudha, VI created an EP where the sound and collective vibe are the focus.

Since we loved the first two singles of the "VI" EP (forthcoming on LadenLife) it was a no brainer when we got the opportunity to premiere the third and final track titled "Odds Of Life". This song really grows on you due to it's massive soulful Reggae groove and features miss Nikki Cislyn on vocals.

The "VI" EP drops later this month and for the time being VI is giving away a limited free download!

Grizmatik - Digital Liberation Is Mad Freedom

The EP’s title „Sounds Of The Caribbean“ was chosen as it features a variety of musical styles that include Dub, Cumbia, Reggaeton and hispanic music influences. The guitar in all songs is played by New York’s Zeb Visini from Wonderwheel Recordings – recorded in his studio in Brooklyn on one of NY’s hottest summer days. 

An atmosphere of buzzing heat and tropical feeling is embodied in the opener to the EP, „Cartagenera“, which is influenced by the Cartagenera, a folkloristic musical style from the Flamenco family, rooted in Southern Spain. Combined with a skanking rhythm guitar, this track is surely a summer embracing dancefloor filler. 

„Disco Tropical“ is a funky stomper featuring Brazilian MC legend EDU K on the microphone. Recorded in his studio in Porto Alegre, Brazil, EDU K bigs up the tropical disco flavour of Dutch Ryhthm Combo. On bass guitar is Mads Krabbe, bass player in the "Roots Harmonics Band" from Copenhagen, the most heavyweight Scandinavian reggae rockers.

The third song in the EP, „Tune“, is a deep roots-dub track. Entirely played live, it’s the dubbed out side of Dutch Rhythm Combo, reminiscing the first release on Highscore „Soulmap“ by Melasse.
