Hannah Holland has been a crucial figure on the London queer scene since the mid-00s. Raised on a diet of Kraftwerk, Grace Jones and Talking Heads, among others, by her parents; and inspired by the legendary Metalheadz drum ‘n’ bass parties of the mid 90s" (where she was sneaking in very underage), Hannah’s approach to music has always been one of collaboration, grounded by a passion for the power of community. This is evident in the melting pot of her ever-varied sets, the curation of her label Batty Bass, her soundtrack work, and in remixes for the likes of Goldfrapp, The Knife and Metronomy.

Having recently ventured into soundtrack work alongside an ever-present love for the dancefloor, her latest EP explores a meeting point between the two. Beats Aesthetic EP is out August 11th via PRAH Recordings, with the title single out today.

Moozeic, a project created by Joici Borges and Manuella Wintrich in 2015 from Jaraguá Do Sul, Brazil, returns to the Mexican imprint Kyma Komplex to reveal their latest extended play, titled 'Continuum 6'. The EP features two amazing original mixes and is accompanied by four outstanding remixes by Cometran, Luca Lucena, Forest Louche & Lorran.

Moozeic is created with the aim of expressing experiences and knowledge lived by the duo through music. The exceptional introduction to this journey is 'Continuum 6'. The resounding synthesizers and percussion beat create an ancestral atmosphere that begins to elevate us to a higher state of mind, allowing us to connect with the source.

Once the connection is made, 'Pandora 9' starts with the mystical, astral synthesizers and organic elements that melt and suck you into the endless tunnel, showing us the story of our life, our memories, our moments. It's our creation that makes each one distinct and irreplaceable. Crafted from unique experiences, it becomes an unparalleled masterpiece.

Regarding the remix duties of 'Continuum 6', it starts with Cometran, offering a cut that is more chaotic and energetic, filled with electrifying sounds, a solid arp-bass line, glitchy percussions, and a booming drum. Its hypnotic and frenetic quality continues in the trance state. Next comes Luca Lucena with his version of 'Pandora 9', featuring a resonant synth pad, alarms, punchy kicks, and the eastern vocal. This evokes an atmosphere reminiscent of bygone decades with retro-futuristic and spatial touches, showcasing a versatile sound.

The final two remixes, made by Forest Louche & Lorran, are equally remarkable. The first is oriented towards the dancefloor, based on futuristic timbres, immersed in a tropical forest, with clear vocals, reverberating percussions, and blazing synths. Finally, the EP concludes with Lorran’s remix. It's playful and mysterious, resonant and hallucinating, with haunting vocals that feel like they're taking you deep inside.

Avilynn has been slowly unveiling releases via her fledgling Taisha imprint, showcasing her unique sound which encapsulates a variety of influences, always laced with a dynamic feel, sonic hypnotism and gritty drive. Following on from 2021’s acclaimed ‘Five Million Sunsets’, Avilynn returns to Taisha Records with her new ‘6’ EP. Blending sonic
experiences from the Berlin cityscape and coupling them with provocative and sophisticated instrumentation.
‘Air and Bubbles’ leads the release and lays down cinematic strings, tension building atmospherics, a vacillating rhythmic groove and murky bass grooves. ‘66 °33’48.8’’ follows next, coordinates possibly, a hidden destination, a journey complete. This one sees Avilynn shift focus towards textural soundscapes layered with ethereal, billowing
voices atop intricate off-kilter drums and swirling synth flutters.
Title-cut ‘6’ then opens the flip-side, embracing a brighter aesthetic with cosseting pads and resonant bubbling synths delicately intertwined with a winding low-end groove and a combination of electronic and acoustic drums to create the composition’s bumpy breaks. ‘Fobias’ then rounds out the EP, edging back into darker realms bringing crunchy saturated bass stabs and shuffled percussion into the forefront while sweeping strings, intricate melodies and voice-like textures unfurl as the composition progresses.

On a musical quest for balancing professional skill with impulse and feeling, Jacob Funch investigates dark depths within something very smooth, meditative and sunny. He seems to possess the rare ability of striking minor chords with a smile on his face. An almost disturbing calm bliss permeates his symphonic ambience, leaving a door open for the listener to dress up as a drunken captain looking for magic wands and mushrooms. In his lo-fi bedroom study, Funch uses cheap synths to create gothic pop structures, resulting in some of this music sounding like Robert Smith composing 'Disintegration' for a Nintendo game. With an almost naive balearic playfulness, romantic themes circle round like birds in Himalayas of sound - suddenly battling with knights in dark medieval valleys, only to return to the sky with wings fully loaded of jazzy pineapples.
