The words were hard to come by, she'd sat in silence for what felt like hours trying to articulate herself but it was impossible: words continued to fail her. She stared at a fixed point on the wall, unable to pull her gaze away, hoping this focus would bring with it a sudden brainwave. His eyes burned into the back of her head, his patience wearing thin now. She knew talking was the only logical solution, but it was easier said than done.

Oddball Fantasies is a new label springing up from Brussels way. For their inaugural release they've called on the talents of Invisible Inc and Chambre Noir producer Puma & The Dolphin who delivers an eponymous four-tracker of organic, rhythmic delights. Described as "a ritual dance to take you to other worlds", the collection of psychedelic slow burners and enchanting grooves pull from dub and leftfield, and are just as suited for home listening as soundtracking hazy late nights on the dance floors.

The Younger Than Me debut on Warning hits hard with two powerful original cuts and sharp remixes. The Early Sound Of Nothing is a deep Rave belter driven by the 90s reminiscences that YTM is known and loved for. Maruwa gently coats his production in a slick mix of uplifting House and funky Trance, perfect for an energetic morning workout. On the flip Counter Future turns it up creating a meltdown of choral Speedtrance before the EP gets finished with another rework by Sophie du Palais who takes the track into a deep bath for a round of sinister Ketamine sex.

Drum Tales is a new upcoming name in Lithuanian alternative scene. “Distorted Faces” is his debut on Good Skills - an EP coming out August 2023. Three very different original tracks and remixes from greats, who don’t require further introduction - Autarkic & Zillas on Acid.

Three originals show full spectrum of dance music and perfectly sum up sound of Vilnius nowadays. We’ve got oldtown vibe lyrics-driven indie track “Distorted Faces”, a big room banger “Inner Voices” influenced by Vilnius’s uptown scene and “Waiting for the Sun” which is somewhere in the middle.

So let us introduce you to Drum Tales. He’s here to stay. Apart from serving juicy bangers, which he produces on Fruity Loops, this dude can cut your hair or pour you a pint at the coolest bar in the heart of Vilnius. Definitely someone you want as a friend!

Junto Club return!

Crafted in a southside studio in Glasgow, Junto Club's 'Golden Apple' is a sonic journey set to release on Optimo Music. 

For the past ten years, Junto Club have continued to defy genre boundaries while producing a sound that is distinctively their own. ‘Golden Apple’ continues in this vein, capturing a range of styles, from the fast-paced title track to the dub-inspired 'San Worm' and the pop hook of 'The Answer.' Initial drafts, chaotic and abstract, were brought to life at Green Door Studio before being sent to Emily and Stu Evans in the Californian desert for the final mix and arrangement. Sascha Funke then took on the mission of reimagining ‘Golden Apple’ towards a more hynoptic groove. 

Drawing inspiration from the dystopian future that climate breakdown forewarns, 'Golden Apple' is a compact genre shifting creation that speaks to our times.

After an emotional climbing break, I was climbing again in my home mountains. Since I had just been working on this soundtrack, the music was in my head while I was climbing. And the climbing was also a flow experience for me again. That's why it's called the soundtrack.

Nach einer emotionaler Kletterpause, war ich wieder in meinem Heimatgebirge klettern. Da ich gerade aktuell an diesem Soundtrack gearbeitet habe, ist während dem klettern die Musik in meinem Kopf. Und das klettern war auch für mich wieder ein Flow Erlebnis. Deshalb auch die Bezeichnung des Soundtracks.
