When we look back in time, it seems like yesterday when we started having clandestine parties in the backyard of an old house or illegal raves in public parks in Buenos Aires.
Today, a decade later, Playground has established itself as a respected squad based in Barcelona, a record label with a strong back catalog of over 50 releases, and a family of artists spanning the globe. 10 years have passed since this beautiful adventure started and we want to celebrate it as we like best… Dancing.

Starting the year with our VA series “Oddness” loaded with more weirdness and rarities. For Volume III we have on board a bunch of new and outstanding artists such as: Nick Hanzo & das molekuel, JGR, Ruksby, Second Gate and Ambrosia.

With “das molekuel” Belly Dance Services mastermind Nick Hanzo and his partner Geraldine have the goal to let molecules sparkle through electrifying music. Their new track 'Blaetterwald' is like a leave that gently starts to dance through marvelous Indie Dance lands, followed by gentle pirouettes until finally turning into wind like energy that never stops moving.

JGR (Julián García-Reyes) makes his Bonkers debut with 'Awaken'. The Chilean producer and DJ based in Madrid brings us a track that mixes elements ranging from new wave to electro, combined with nostalgic melodies that recall musical landscapes from the second half of the 80's.

Rising producer from Moscow Ruksby presents 'Numeros' it will fill you with a signature groove, a little dark, but not evil, at medium speeds, with a pinch of brutality and notes of decadence.

Inspired by the heat of the Mexican desert, barb wire and rusted walls, Second Gate delivers 'Frontera' his artistic vision of a hostile environment through synth stabs, powerful basslines and a creeping ambiance made out of live samples and granular synthesis. This one’s an EBM Monster designed to bring chaotic energy and a psychedelic feel to any dance floor it is played in.

Closing the VA, rising from the Pacific of Mexico, Ambrosia is the artistic name of Alexis Ramírez, an electronic music artist from Puerto Vallarta. He delivers 'Into Your Soul' with a dark touch and a hypnotic sequence, with flashes of melancholic overtones, ideal for opening the dance floor, with this track we conclude our third edition of Oddness.

For Penrose Records 6th release we joyfully welcome fellow Madrid denizen Azaria. His debut ep for the label is a powerful 4 tracker followed by a Massimiliano Pagliara remix.

A long time Dj, producer and sound engineer Azaria has been building a solid reputation for releasing underground beats on labels like La Belle, Rotten City, Roam or Nein to name a few.

Here we have another example of his studio crafts and wide sonic palette: From the hypnotic and eurobeat flavoured “At The Gates” to the intricate and psychedelic “Time Waits No Man”. From the euphoric detroit influenced pads of “Upside Down” to the dark, sleazy and mechanical groove of “Do Or Die”.

Berghain/Panorama Bar resident Massimiliano Pagliara gives the original “At The Gates” a fantastic cosmic disco retouch.

We’re delighted to welcome italian producer Alberto Melloni on Ulla Records ! With his EP “Scaleno”, he displays the wide array of his production game, going from new beat to italo and synthwave, through 3 original tracks, supported by two remixes from Tech Support and Plexi Glass.

The eponymous opening track, “Scaleno”, sounds like an ode to the new beat era, with its punching drum beat, wild sound effects and slamming stabs. Then comes “Blonde”, entwining synths and pads, layed over an heavy rhythm section, the soundtrack to your night spree through the city. Finally, we’re having an uplifting ending with “False Piste”, an explosion of vibrant melodies, navigating somewhere between italo and synthwave.

We also wanted some ace remixers on board, so we asked London based Tech Support to put his magic hands on “Blonde”. He delivered an intense, heavy, club-ready remix, with its hypnotic groove and dreamy layers of synths. Then we have newcomers Plexi Glass, hailing from Rennes, who decided to pace it up on “False Piste”, unleashing frantics drums and galloping basslines, making for a supercharged remix.

Alberto Melloni - Scaleno (Including Tech Support & Plexi Glass Remixes) [ULLA007] (Preview)

It's been over a year since we introduced Florin Büchel at MM Discos. It is fascinating how the Swiss producer squeezes his analogue machines to create unique landscapes that can easily vary from downtempo to darker territories.

Florin Büchel lands on "Saturn", and for the occasion, we've rescued this old material that has been stored for many years, 3 (almost forgotten) tracks produced back in 2010 where Zurich's best-kept secret propose a synthetic intergalactic journey. Pure underground quality for your ears where vocoders, analogue synths and drum boxes play around to build a time capsule that travels straight to the 80's subculture.

In another MM Saturn chapter that keeps exploring the galaxy's borders, captain Büchel at control of the spacecraft on our endless journey towards new horizons.

The Lost Tapes

PREMIERE: Florin Büchel - The Lost Heart [MM DISCOS]

Operating from sundered soils, Eftersom is a triangle formed between Ravage Sentimental, close collaborator Jérôme Darmois, and Chris Vella aka Moderne Romance. The term “Eftersom” is used as a nod to their cross-border bond, a bond galvanized by a simple love of music, unwavering creative drive, and a fair collection of imperfect studio gear.

With their LP “Lie” on Paradise Children Records lined up for the second half of 2023, here the trio present “Tourne Tourne”, a precursor to the project which comes coloured with remixes made with love by Niv Ast, Mufti, Radial Gaze, and Ravage Sentimental herself. Radial Gaze offers up two unique takes: a ‘Pop’ and an ‘Indie’ version, by the way. The prolific Russian duo, formed by skilled producers Andrey and Stas, spared no efforts to deliver such insightful interpretations. 

Premiered here, their 'Pop' remix lays pellucid twinkles over tight, sharp rhythms, bringing the energetic original to a journey through the low-BPM realm wrapped with a Synthpop crust and a sober but upbeat gait.

We’re very happy to welcome on board JackWasFaster for our 12th release at LATIDO.

JackWasFaster, born and based in Madrid, has spent the last few years contributing to the effervescent Spanish scene with releases/remixes on Rotten City, Factor City, Latido or Playground. He has played live/dj sets at Sonar, FIB, Brunch, Mad Cool, Paraiso, Mondo or Razzmatazz. His tracks have been played and supported by many artists that we admire such us Andrew Weatherall, Massimiliano Pagliara, Curses, Terr, Echonomist or Mugwump to name a few.

In this new Ep, The South, Manu Cachero shows some of his main hallmarks. Thrilling synths, intoxicating and unexpected melodies, and a cosmic and synthetic envelope that teleports you to a new dimension. From the detuned and intricate synth lines of the sparkling title track, to the acid rush of “Silver Ships”, to end up on the killer and mental bassline of “It Started In Jamaica”.

Along with the three original tracks on the EP, there are two amazing remixes by the unmistakable Freudenthal, and the always forceful Señora, to make The South a magnificent Ep.

Daniel Solís aka Second Gate delivers his debut EP straight from the heart of Mexico, bringing his genre-bending approach to the label through 3 tracks inspired by the Latin American culture developed around mysticism and black magic. It includes three unique and delightful remixes by Bonnie Spacey, Anastasia Zems and Ives Barceló.

Starting with Santero, presenting a powerful analog bass serves as a foundation for tribal drums, mysterious chants and glitched vocals. Everything is wrapped up by the dark atmospheres that will launch listeners into a trip through an eerie and mysterious jungle. 

Followed by the remixes, French and Marseille based Dj & Producer, Bonnie Spacey, also head of Critical Monday is in charge of adding some lightness to the Ep, landing some Italo/Synthwave vibes plus an exquisite vocal. 

Adding more female power to the label, we have the honor to have Anastasia Zems, with releases on Whypeopledance, Les Yeux Orange and Human Endeavour debuting as well on the label, bringing an unique feel to the release, trippy, clubby and hypnotic, just perfect for a peak time hour.

Ives Barceló strikes back with an enigmatic mix, inspired by the magic lands of Veracruz, México, bringing to you a joyful journey to the deep jungle of Catemaco, somehow you will witness some eerie voices from the witches calling you for an introspective trip. 

For Black Magic, it has a powerful bass followed by modular synthesizers take us onto a trip through a dark landscape full of polyrhythms, granular synths and every weird technique that came to Daniels mind while he delivers his mysterious and hypnotic style to this Indie Dance with Electro influences track.   

Closing with Twisted Man, fusing Indie Dance and Dub music, its rumbly bass and dub chords will push any dancefloor into psychedelic frenzy. The weird atmospheres and drones slowly creep through the track, ready to be replaced by mind melting leads and techno drums when the track comes to its highest point.
