Kronikos Pt. 1 was released on Good Skills in summer of 2021 and was well received by weird electronica fans across the globe. Things really kicked off for Karolis after this. It’s time for world to hear the second part of this mysterious debut release, described by author as 'world news show, where each song represents a different story'.
“Atomik Bomb” is a testament of Shkema’s German skills. Title of the track, written and produced in 2018, sounds a little risky considering nowadays geopolitical context, but rules are simple - you can’t take a lyric out of a track. Some serious bass line action here, you must check it out.
“Singapūras” is a tribute to the country Shkema has never been to. Massive flute solo, wonderful percussion section and a dream to go there one day.
Disco Mortale (previously known as Daniel Monaco) delivered an Italian bass slapping boogie version of “Atomik Bomb”. Proper 80s vibe, perfect for a ride in Miami, driving a red Testarossa.
Last but not least in the saga of “Kronikos” is a refix from Mexican duo Theus Mago & Moisees. These guys know what they are doing, this track is perfect for times when dance floor needs some fresh energy.

For Penrose Records 6th release we joyfully welcome fellow Madrid denizen Azaria. His debut ep for the label is a powerful 4 tracker followed by a Massimiliano Pagliara remix.
A long time Dj, producer and sound engineer Azaria has been building a solid reputation for releasing underground beats on labels like La Belle, Rotten City, Roam or Nein to name a few.
Here we have another example of his studio crafts and wide sonic palette: From the hypnotic and eurobeat flavoured “At The Gates” to the intricate and psychedelic “Time Waits No Man”. From the euphoric detroit influenced pads of “Upside Down” to the dark, sleazy and mechanical groove of “Do Or Die”.
Berghain/Panorama Bar resident Massimiliano Pagliara gives the original “At The Gates” a fantastic cosmic disco retouch.

Mix Series 038 - FEAR-E

After the hallucinate EP "Give Chance A Trance", Moderna and Theus Mago return to Duro with a reissue of their first collaboration work, 'Dog Is Calling You', originally released in 2016 under Chloè’s label, Lumière Noire. The reissue includes the three original cuts and the remix of ‘Dog is calling you’ by Die Wilde Jagd, plus three new remixes by Mexico based artists Mijo & Macaulay, Alinka of Twirl Records, and the Riotvan family Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht .

The EP begins with the classic "Asesino Sicótico", a booming, dark and insane cut. It's a fusion of techno energy with house music groove. It's followed by "Dog Is Calling You", a slow mix of melted bass, orbital and acidic sounds. To close the original versions is the fan favorite "Papa En Roy", a mixture of classic techno with obsessive and repetitive bass lines, while Moderna's vocals take us on a lunatic journey.

The remix by Mijo & Macaulay of "Asesino Sicótico" is a hypnotic, insistent, and powerful cut. The bass line runs over you while the voice gets lost among synthesizers, pads, and percussion. Alinka surprises us with her version of "Papa En Roy", adding echoes of voices, a liquefying and electrifying bass, distorted percussion, and maniacal synthesizers.

Riotvan friends, Peter Invasion & Gregor Habicht, give us their version of "Papa En Roy", which is a forceful and exciting cut, creating bursts of energy perfect for the dance floor. To close the release is the version made by Die Wilde Jagd, a cut with a reverberated and liberating atmosphere, the drums and bass take you to the climax while the drums hold you firmly in a slow but continuous step.

"Moderna & Theus Mago - Dog Is Calling You" will be available on platforms starting from July 14th.

Juno's Review : "Plant43 wrote a trio of EPs over the winter season at the end of 2022 and the start of 23 and has been putting them out on his own Plant43 Recordings label. This third part from the man born Emile Facey is another emotional rollercoaster that conveys the wintry scenes in which they were written while also taking you on to the more warm and optimistic light of spring. Lithe electro rhythms and icy synths open up on 'Tidal Flexing' while 'Reflective Waves' gets a little darker and more intense. 'System's Edge' is a celestial cruise with quick, slick drums and masterful leads then 'Mind Drift' channels Drexcyian cyborg funk to close. The final part of the story comes on coloured vinyl but only in limited quantities."

Cybotron has re-emerged in our contemporary cybercultural age when artifactual futures begin a transition into a new era of "Meta". 
 
By combining their knowledge of philosophy, science fiction, and mechanical engineering, at a time when electronic instrument companies were only just beginning to distribute their products to the masses, two prosumer audio technicians named Juan Atkins and Rik Davis were able to re-engineer Cybotron  &ndash;  a combination of the words "Cyborg" and "Cyclotron" (an atomic particle accelerator) &ndash; to be used as a home studio performance music that would change the course of independently produced and distributed electronic music.
 
Dissolving the boundary between singer, songwriter, and producer, Juan Atkins named Cybotron's future forward funkadelic sound "techno" in reference to Alvin Toffler's concept of unlikely "techno rebels" against technocracy. Techno is music that sounds like technology, and its purpose was to help society survive our collision with a universally felt "future shock" by inserting an audio virus into the cultural matrix. 
 
Techno's blueprint spread across the Detroit-Berlin Axis between Metroplex and Tresor. As human society began its transition from a post-industrial to an information-based market economy, Cybotron enabled a thorough system override of the human senses towards a tangible man-machine hybridity and showed the world how to channel their emotions and imaginations into new sound technologies and create new 'sonic' spatialities where listeners can transport themselves out of the physical world into the future. The cover of their debut album Enter (1983) transmitted a fragmented view of a body in motion being digitized mid-stride, dissolving physical and virtual reality into sonic fiction.
 
Today, the man-machine hybridity of Cybotron is still the truest form of techno, coevolving in conversation with the technological music they created and inspired. The latest data disk marks a new chapter that reflects a techgnostic musical expression of the knowledge acquired during their decades-long hiatus. Unlike the dance music industrial replications of the Model 500 formula, acknowledging the content marketing expectations that segments music into specific, sellable genres, this techno music is self-aware.
Cybotron processes dance music tropes spawned from its very own blueprint with a meta-tactical precision out of sync with our current rave new world. 

Cybotron's return demonstrates a studied engagement with what techno was and should be with a peerless update of Juan Atkins' initial inventive idea of do-it-yourself electrically reengineered music xeroxed onto both sides of the 12" &ndash; uploaded directly into the alleys of your mind.

Naya Beat, which translates from Hindi as 'new beat', is focused on uncovering foundational electronic sounds from the subcontinent and South Asian diaspora through reissues, remixes and compilations. It found quick success with its first release, 'Naya Beat Volume 1: South Asian Dance and Electronic Music 1983 - 1992', followed by a rare 1985 Hindi New Wave album by Pinky Ann Rihal. The label now offers up the first of two releases based around the music of cosmic disco pioneer, Studio 54 icon and jazz improviser Asha Puthli, an artist who has recorded, sung or shared the stage with the likes of Roy Ayers, Alice Coltrane, Grace Jones, Barry White, Andy Warhol and many more. From David Mancuso's The Loft, to Giorgio Moroder's early work with Donna Summer, to hip-hop where she has been sampled extensively, Asha's musical influence and impact is profound. She was the first artist of South Asian descent to successfully crossover and make a mark on dance, jazz and pop culture in the West. 

For this LP, the label tracked down the long mythologised original stems and recordings of Puthli's most seminal albums, including ‘The Devil is Loose’, and working closely with Asha, they have tasked a series of producers inspired by her work to remix her music. 

Yuksek opens up with a pumping disco remix of 'I Am Song (Sing Me)' awash with uplifting synths and big claps next to the original vocals, which soar to the heavens. The seminal 'Space Talk' is remixed by Maurice Fulton into super steamy and late-night territory. The live drums and jumbled percussion are lit up with soulful chords as Puthli's carefully delivered vocal seduces up top. 'Lies' (Kraak & Smaak Remix) rides on fat-bottomed drums and bass that unfold with a dub swagger beneath a nebulous eco-system of cosmic synths and dramatic vocals. Label heads Turbotito & Ragz flip 'One Night Affair' into a leggy disco celebration with sweeping synths and bright effects, and Psychemagik's 'Right Down Here' is a pulsating mix of dark, snaking bass and drums with deep space ambience and raw hits making for a turbulent and tense atmosphere. Lastly, Jitwam closes out with a smooth disco sound laced with dynamic drums and cruising chords next to another sensuous top line from Asha Puthli. 

This is a stunning collection of remixes that pay homage to the originals while taking them into new sonic territory. Pyrame, the traveller and cosmic poet now residing in Berlin, releases his new EP "Senses High" on his own imprint Thisbe Recordings.


In his 2 -track EP, which includes the singles "Senses High" and "Stranger Than Me", Pyrame tells us a story as long as the history of mankind : that of desire, sensuality and mutual attraction.

His music fully embraces his electro, new wave - and even rock, through its provocative nature - influences, and was composed and produced by the end of the pandemic.
It is hence the result of the mindset Pyrame got into during this unique experience we all went through. With no exception for the Lausanne-born musician and lyricist.

The EP also features best-in-class remixes by Andrew Claristidge, La Mverte, Theus Mago and Semodi.


The EP Is due to drop on Friday 22nd of September, and is available both digitally and the two originals on a limited transparent vinyl edition.

The EP is titled “Senses High” and is full of sweaty dark suspense, floaty melodies, gritty texture, and grooving baselines that will keep you locked and latched in a trance. With touches of dreamy lyrics and dazed strings, this EP will bring you to a new found sense of desire, sensuality and mutual attraction on the dance floor. 
The EP consists of two tracks by Pyrame, called “Senses High” and “Stranger Than Me”. Both tunes feature bright and sparkly percussions, evocative vocals and guitar, and dark, thick, plucky baselines. “Senses High” includes a hypnotic flute melody and vocals saying “Only you can make my senses so high”. This track is floaty, deep, and erotic. “Stranger Than Me” aligns itself with the deeper side of the dance floor and has dark and curious spoken word vocal behind the track. Flurries of African-sounding sounding drums erupt in this track to carry it into its continually mesmerizing groove. 
The EP also features best-in-class remixes by Andrew Claristidge, La Mverte, Theus Mago and Semodi that carry the original pieces into their own unique places. 
Andrew Claristidge’s from Grenoble and also one part of Acid Washed, joins with a lovely remix of “Senses High” lightens up the tune with a thick warm bass line, and utilizes dark and gritty vocal effects to take the already hypnotic vocal to another level throughout the tune. 
Alexandre Berly, the mystical talent from France known as La Mverte delivers a remix of “Senses High” that slows things down and uses a crunchy live sounding break beat to take the tune to another dimension. This is definitely a dark tune that will keep you craving more. 
Theus Mago from Mexico, is a staple of the dark disco scene and a master of the atmospheric realm. Here he delivers a special remix of ‘Stranger Than Me”. The pumping and grooving techno bass line is accompanied by glitched out floaty textures and fast grinding drums and it is an absolute stunner of a tune. 
Semodi, an extremely talented live musician, DJ and producer residing in Berlin remixes “Stanger Than Me” and takes the already mesmerizing track to another level of hypnosis. The forceful baseline, glinting percussion and melodic expansions are nothing short of magnificent.

For this 27th release, Rock To The Beat Records has chosen to spotlight a talented greek artist named « Petroza » with two originals dark disco & techno tracks. Ronhos Ep is further by two brillants remixes made by the key player and excellent Andrew Claristidge and an french admirable artist : Cornelius Doctor.

Mexico’s Duro label are set to release the first EP from local talent Undefined Pattern, backed with remixes from Damon Jee and Jenia Tarsol.

‘El Desespere’ comes after Undefined Pattern’s debut on the Disque Discos 'DISCORROR IX' compilation and is inspired by the stress and paranoia of living in Mexico. It features three intensely atmospheric tracks with remixes by Damon Jee and Jenia Tarsol.

The fantastic title track gets things under way on a rugged bassline and illuminating synths that speak of a busy urban metropolis. It’s a rumbling disco ride that really takes you somewhere. The dark and heavy disco vibes continue on ‘Estrex Humano’, with its crisp hits and urgent bassline. Edgy synth loops bring the tension and add plenty of drama before ‘Intenxa Salida’ offers a sparser and eerier track, with dystopian, searching synths and melodic details off in the distance that suggest human life amongst a late night urban landscape.

Frenchman, MORE associate and 90s veteran Damon Jee flips ‘Estrex Humano’ into a slow burning and steamy disco stomper with libidinous female vocals, courtesy of Ravintsara and broad synth sweeps. Lastly, ‘El Desespere’ as remixed by Blue Shadow Records boss Jenia Tarsol is a chugger with big rock licks and a filthy bassline.

This is a compelling EP from the fast rising Undefined Pattern and another great package from contemporary disco tastemakers Duro.

Despite the challenges and weirdness of the year, boundary-blazing bandoleros Duro continue to shoot through 2020, all-pistols-blazing. Releases have fired from all corners but one of the strongest themes has been the ‘Muy Duro’ volumes. The Mexican label’s flagship V/A series, each EP digs deep into the dark disco psyche, celebrating the label’s widest sonic outposts and reference points with friends and shared spirits from across the world, old and new. Marking a year of the series, with tracks from Israel to Istanbul, ‘Muy Duro Volume 5’ is certainly no exception.

Veteran cosmic groover Tim Paris makes his long-awaited debut with the slouching funk and broken drum swagger of ‘Better Slightly Unchanged’ before two more collaborations join the party with their Duro debuts, all hailing from Israel; Middle Sky Boom and AckerMan whisk us through the stars on ‘Temp Goes High’ while Rina X Benji pay homage to mind alteration on the electroid bumps and asteroid grinds of ‘Koshmaro’.

Professional belly dancers and long-time friends of Duro Hanzo & Yaman follow with ‘Hokus Pokus’. A springy, playful slab of house music laced with pitched bells and a riser that teases and teases, there’s a late 90s/early 200s mischief to this that, like the label itself, just won’t quit. The final word comes from the label bossman Theus Mago and French brother-in-arms Id!r… And that word is techno. Deep bleeps and endless pulsations, ‘Soft Light’ is an epic moment of pure late night hedonism that sits somewhere between Bobby Peru and Plastikman. Blazing boundaries and still fully loaded, the Duro bandoleros keep on shooting.
