For our 5th episode on Operator, we have @6siss aka Peter Adriaenssens, a returning New Beat veteran who started releasing 6SISS material in 2013. 6SISS’ music combines driving rhythms with ominous, desiccated samples and withered pads that call to mine militant soundscapes.
With releases on R&S Records , UX, Micron Audio and 47 with Motive Power and collabs on HEX and Leyla Records he provides bruising off kilter rhythms, stagger and lurch in mesmerising ways that undercut the 4:4 hegemony to confuse and delight dancefloors in equal measure.

Substencia regularly shares her passion for music across France and has performed at parties and festivals such as Château Perché and FIFIB in Bordeaux, as well as iconic clubs in Europe, including Tresor in Berlin, Elipamanoke in Leipzig and Moog in Barcelona.

THEATRE OF LIGHT is the latest project from Brussels-based artist Jean Grünewald (OTTOMAN GRÜW ; A BODY WITHOUT). Drawing inspiration from religious chants, resonant drones, and sacred spaces, THEATRE OF LIGHT is born from an impending feeling of doom and explores themes related to transcendence and personal mysticism - while combining ritual practice with vocal work, experimental ambient music and performance art.

The project's debut release follows an evocative, rare performance in the Chapel of Grand Hospice - a storied former medical institution in the heart of Brussels. The performance was recorded, meticulously edited, and reimagined into a singular release for the launch of THEATRE OF LIGHT. This is an open-hearted record, inviting listeners into a space of introspection, uncertainty, and the sublime - a live album bathing into light.

Jean Grünewald's influences for this project include the works of Eliane Radigue, Dome, Sunn O))), alongside the more ambient iterations of Coil and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

We are happy to welcome Amsterdam-based selector, music producer and performer SERENA (@seresssssso). In this mix, she blends old and new favorite songs and artists into a continuous exploration and study of how old and new sounds can seamlessly merge, reflecting an ongoing celebration of music and its roots.

SERENA forges immersive soundscapes that merge aggressive noise with atmospheric textures, dubby loops, distorted guitars, and guttural vocals. As the founder and curator of SUBURBIA, an event launched in 2022 that fuses experimental music and visual arts, SERENA commands stages at iconic Amsterdam venues such as Garage Noord, Occii, SkateCafe', and Felix Meritis.  Her collaboration with Mutant Radio on the radio show 'OBSESSION' further amplifies her influence. Through her work, she weaves a tapestry of sound and vision that is both a tribute to the past and a defiant leap into the future

He also hosts Free City Radio (@freecityradio) on several Canadian radio stations and works with several cultural and social justice spaces in Montreal.

"Ottoman Grüw invited me to make a 1 hour mix for Operator Radio. It features works by friends in different corners of the world and also some recent collaborations, duets. The tone is wide, there are some wide spaces but also intense energy. I have gotten to know Jean (Ottoman Grüw) over the past couple of years, from doing work to mobilize artists to speak out in support of Palestinian human rights, to working together on a series of shows in Brussels.
