50 Grass, AKA Jakov Ponjavic, the good spirits of Belgrade. Designer by trade, Jakov has been present at the Serbian scene for years as a DJ and promoter (most notably of hugely popular hip hop parties organized by collective Vatra!). However, Jakov’s taste goes beyond hip hop and he is pretty unpredictable… but always fun.

Shomy (1973) grew up in Smederevo near the capital of Serbia, Belgrade. At high school, influenced by the Sex Pistols he started his musical career playing guitar in Punk bands. In the early nineties he discovered bands like Happy Mondays, The Soup Dragons, The Stone Roses, Stereo MCs, Primal Scream and The Charlatans which lead to him forming Bioskop which he played guitar and wrote music and lyrics for. 
The band split in 1995, but Shomy and the band’s lead singer continued to perform and record, releasing their first album in 1998. The album, arriving at a time when civil war gripped the country, was well received by critics and public, with 7 of the 10 albums tracks charting as singles.
The band split and Shomy took time away from music for personal reasons until 2008, when he realised he missed the scene too much. He recorded a single ‘Vatra’ (Fire) with a guitarist from Vancouver  (Laka Ruka) bringing him back to the top of the lists. In the meantime, former singer of the band Happy Mondays, Rowetta, joined him and together they recorded three songs and a video. Shomy now lives in Belgrade and works as solo artist. Healso DJ’s in small clubs in Serbia. His musical tastes and influences are varied something that is evident in his DJ sets and original songs

The idea behind the label is the ability to transmit futuristic frequencies with any available resources. By selecting and presenting audio material with the power to change, our endeavours are focused on overcoming the mediocre audio programming that is being fed to the planet, creating barriers within our minds and between civilizations. Using the science of creation to transcend percieved limitations. Connecting the advances in our culture and technology with the important lessons of visionaries that came before us.

The vinyl record is the symbol of DJ culture even in the time of digital mixing and auto-syncing. It represents more than just the physical form or the tangible aspect of DJ-ing. It is the medium whose cyclical movement best represents time itself. And in the end, all music is temporal art.

The art of the DJ mix is finding a space in time where the output becomes greater than just the sum of its parts. It could be an unexpected sensation, a great sequence of songs or that moment where two records fit together so seamlessly, so perfectly, they merge into a new entity.

We choose to enter the abyss of modern electronic output to share our vision of the future. A future that is not based on flavor-of-the-week hype but one that is built on the experience of a life-long journey.
