Welcoming Jaye Ward (@jayeward) to our Tribe podcast serie is like completing a circle, because rare are the Djs who influence us as much as Jaye Ward in our way of considering the art of Djing. 
Real figure of the UK underground scene, pioneer of the slow weird trippy movement which bridged back together dance culture and experimental live musicians jams, Jaye Ward is also a figure of militancy in the scene, always picking a side for human rights, freedom of expression, and respect of singularities. Her message is love but the one which urges thoughts and talks, the one which has to be built with everyone who wanted to share.

Ex-member of the Madrid-based band Fira Fem (Aloud, Subterfuge), with whom he played at some Spanish festivals like Sónar, Primavera Sound, FIB, SOS or BBK, Manu Cachero hides under the moniker JackWasFaster to explore his devotion for electronic music.

In his DJ sets, live acts and productions, the artist focuses on exploring the most synthetic face of Disco, as well as Post-Electronic, Dark Balearic Wave, Post-Punk heritage, or the rawest and the most underground Acid music.

Participant to the 2015 Madrid edition of the Red Bull Music Academy Bass Camp, he has issued releases and remixes for labels such as Rotten City, Nein, Factor City, Aylevs, Playground, Quantistic, Emerald & Doreen or Esthétique, both by himself or alongside Álvaro Cabana or Talktome (as Jacktome).

His tracks have been played and supported by Andrew Weatherall, Eskimo Twins, Timothy Clerkin, Mugwump, Sean Johnston, Javi Redondo, Curses, Massimiliano Pagliara, Bird of Paradise, Amevicious, Leonor, Álvaro Cabana, Club Bizarre, Gameboyz, or JP Soul.

The positive reception of his releases and a solid hardware-based live set got him to play at festivals such as Sónar, FIB, Brunch In The Park, Paraíso, Electrosplash or UVA, in addition to clubs such as Mondo (Madrid) and Razzmatazz (Barcelona).

During COVID times, he keeps on producing tracks for Inflect (UK) as well as Rotten City and working on a new project, named Indies With Microkorgs, showing his more industrial and experimental side.

Fabio’s name is not new to the Latin American electronic music scene. This eccentric multifaceted Guatemalan producer, co-founder of the Sonido Moderna collective, Solemne Club in Guatemala city, Azul Rosa beach club in Lake Atitlán and several other projects (festivals, magazines and cultural spaces) has always been known for his insatiable search for a particular sound with the experimentation of various genres. In his own words, “Labeling someone into a specific genre is boring. Music, same as life; must be an open source, because the rhythms are there to be used in the best way for us.”

Fantastic Twins, AKA Julienne Dessangne. In recent years, the Berlin-based French producer has gained a serious reputation as one of the most exciting live acts in modern electronic music. With releases on Optimo, Hippie Dance, Kompakt and her own Microdosing label, she has demonstrated originality. Yet, she is deeply rooted in the history of alternative music, not only techno but avant-garde, psychedelia, punk, new wave etc. We are very excited to have her with us at Mutant Radio for the Floating Bastard Day;

Akio Nagase joins Especial with an EP of global acid tracks.  Centred around his heritage, Osaka based Nagase infuses his sounds with a mixture of dub and ethno-dance, wrapped in 303 infused mid-tempo 4/4 grooves.  

Making music for over 20 years, as well as running his Makedub parties, Nagase has released for Sound Channel, Darker Than Wax and cult Japanese digital label Chillmountain.  It is here, on the latter, that the connection was made and his tracks unearthed.  

Rearranged, re-edited and remixed especially for vinyl, Jurassic Shanghai Acid starts, fusing sound effects, dialogue and samples atop squelching acid beats.  Following is Mongol 303, as Khöömii throat singing and acid vibrations loop and flow across the Altai Mountains down to Steppe Plains – Madrugada Eterna.

Okinawa Yunta crosses the South China Sea to home, perfectly mixing  unique folk song from Taketomi Island reconstructed with Nagase’s gentle, wiggling acid accompaniment.  The incessant repetitive groove an Acid mantra, flowing through consciousness to move mind and body.   

The bpm’s rise for the close.  Saigon Acid mixes tradition and Acid House for fun, a 3AM basement jam where Dan Nhi meets 808 and Nagase presents his ethno-acid love in.

It's here that he also holds a residency and runs his own club night called Juoduomenė, alongside his trusted fellows.
