Kostis is a Sound artist, field recording enthusiast and ¼ of Rekem Records. His sets tells stories of memory, presence and reflection, their narratives found among improvised synth lines and the constant fluctuations between expectation and interruption of an unquiet rhythm.

While Maria Sideri as Body Extatic is a performance artist and researcher working with sound and voice. Sometimes composing music for dance pieces while collaborating with choreographers, Maria is currently based in Athens and working on her phd for archives and embodiment in performance studies.”

The Slow Brown Fox

Mutant Radio (Tbilisi, GE) monthly residency, episode #32, December '23. As the winter cold kicks in, here's one hour of Enno Velthuys. Not much is known about Velthuys, a somewhat obscure character in the world of Dutch electronic music. He released four tapes in the ‘80’s, three of them on the EXART cassette label from IJmuiden, ran by Hessel Veldman and Nick Nicole. Velthuys was a hermit, creating beautiful melodic ambient in the bedroom of his mother’s apartment. Some pieces are reminiscent of a classic dungeon explorer game while others may have a more surreal, cinematic feel. Sadly Velthuys passed away in 2009.

The MUTANTHEADS split 7” features some solid sound rep from both projects….

For Sameheads, Andrea & Alexander release their first material together, acting as a kind of trailer to an upcoming album released later this year on R-I-O. The track “Olias” finally gets its press after once being performed live at the fabled Sameheads festival “City of a Thousand Suns”… those were the days eh…..

On the Mutant Radio side, fresh talent TINA delivers her debut release, and for that matter, the first ever track Mutant have put onto a piece of vinyl….. The track “Vacation” is the squelchy black sheep counter balance to the silky synth vibe of the other side. Just how they like it.

The release will be up for pre-order from next week, and the digital stuff too…. 

Just the 300 copies available…… So,,, fix up look sharp……

Okay, if I were Shakespeare, I wouldn't have wasted my time on Romeo & Juliet romantic stuff. Nope, I would have been writing an ode to the Box Fan. Mind you box fans weren't invented back then, but Shakespeare was ahead of his time so that's no excuse. I would have written glorious iambic pentameter, extolling the virtues of white noise and how it helps one sleep all night long. But, I'm not Shakespeare and he was too busy cranking out Hamlet and probably behind on his bills since writers are always underpaid. I'm sure he would have appreciated a good box fan sound, though, and I hope you do as well.
