No Sound Wave #5: Ranishe Niyaak

New episode of the @scenecityeu residency with Ukrainian musician @nastyavogan, educated in Kyiv and currently living in Berlin. As an artist, she approaches high-intensity dance music tracks as found objects for engineering odd and varied sonic adventures. For this mix, Nastya Vogan focuses
 on the Ukrainian music scene, with one-hour of tracks from Kyiv-based producers, such as @human-margareeta, @timkovbiatch, @gaelabakarova and many other great Ukrainian talents.

A new set from the ‘Before The Curfew’ series is up on SoundCloud. This set was played by tofudj on 18th of February at Ground Floor. 

tofudj is an artist from Poltava who has long made a name for himself as a fixture of Kyiv’s music scene. One of the pep gaffe label cofounders and Standard Deviation frequent collaborator, he is known for his uncompromising experimental sound, which he effortlessly combines with classic dance rhythms.

The series is updated on a weekly basis with recordings of sets that have been played in our space since the beginning of the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Tune in and don't forget to support  the Ukrainian army, volunteer organizations and funds, including the ∄ Community Fund which continues to support volunteer initiatives from representatives of our community.

Besides djing, Masha (AXT) is a sound producer, a resident of ONYX (Prague), and a co-owner of the Motsion — Ukrainian multidisciplinary formation focusing on audio and visual performances. Dasha (Zahvat) is also an author of podcast series Vzahvativid on Gasoline Radio.

This mix is a sisters music reunion and their first remote b2b. One part was compiled in Kyiv, Ukraine, another — in Prague, Czech Republic, where AXT temporarily based in because of russia’s war in Ukraine.
