We have a special guest this week, London-based Acid Freq. is on the GF series. This is the raw electronics alias of Jeremy Rodriguez, also well known as DJ Chupacabras. He started the Draconian Steps label in 2021 dedicated to getting this blend of dusty, raw electronics with a crisp crunch. The label also puts out the Circus of Death project, which is his collaboration with LIES Records boss Ron Morelli. His releases are on heavy rotation and can't wait to see what else around the corner. As DJ Chupacabras, he's got an extensive body of work and blessed labels such as LIES Records, Public Systems Recordings, Sons of Traders, and many others. We could go on about but our brass tacks advise is: Lock in for an hour of Acid Freq. includes tracks by DJ Nephil, Chris Mitchell, Gavelman, and others.

Galactic Funk Podcast 126 - Acid Freq.

During this Summer's sonic-seance at our Lisbon home, Planeta Manas, we revisited the history of seances, and with both a critical and curious eye, researched the technologies and beliefs behind these sessions attempting to communicate with the spirits. We sat and laid down together, guided by the live guitar drones of local musician, BLEID, who conjured ghastly shadows into our presence - including a police raid who invaded the space during her live set - and yet, her precise sonic guidance appeased the spirits and maintained everyone tight through a soporific night journey.

Combining traditional instrumentation and drone synths, BLEID creates endless waves, slowly growing and decreasing in a timeless continuum, overlaying sounds to breaking point, collapsing into themselves just to arrive at a familiar yet new destination every time.

We recommend good speakers that allow the reverberation to be felt in your body, or headphones accompanied with some tea. Allow yourself to drift away with these textured, haunted but soothing vibrations.
