Vilmos Anomaly produces new electronic music and submits musical pieces to the Vancouver based Groundwerk events for new artists. All the tracks in this playlist were submitted to these events as recorded pieces played publicly for the very first time. 

All works are entirely original work of the artist, often produced specifically for the specific event, no works not even samples from others [1]. The works are new in that they've not yet been published nor shared privately or publically. 

Tracks are only added here after their playing at a Groundwerk Listening Party event and a hold period for selection into the Groundwerk Soundcloud album from the event, should it be selected that is. Once the album for the event is published the work will also be added here, if it's published on the official Groundwerk platform or not.

Note [1]: The only exception are the licensed samples built into some music gear by the manufacturers, such as the Roland JD-Xi 26 drum instruments digital samples, Elektron Analog Rytm's digital samples, or others; these samples are all licenced by the manufacturer for use by virtue of using the instrument. This excludes their example "patterns", none of those are used in Vilmos Anomaly's music. Oh, manufacturer "patches" are permitted under the licensed materials for users of the instruments.

Groundwerk Event Submissions

The Roland JD-Xi is just damn extremely insane. This piece was created for, submitted to, and played at the Groundwerk Vancouver GW006 event. Six hours of jamming, then listening and selecting one six minute continuous clip. This is a complex set of layers with two synth tracks and twenty six drum kit instruments with evolving 64 step loops throughout the piece.

"Shaken Love" by Vilmos Anomaly debuted at the Groundwerk GW007 New Electronic Music Listening Party last week on 20160127 at the Anza Club in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Enjoy! 

"Shaken Love" is comprised of 26 tracks, 13 stereo channels, clips from over 20 jam sessions, merged into six minutes of musical soundscapes that evoke images in the mind's eye. Take a journey with Anomaly The Cat as your protector.

Update 20170707: I've been told recently that Shaken Love fits into the Musique Concrete style of Pierre Henry, as he passed away today it seems fitting that in addition to this being a tribute to Anomaly the Cat it's also a tribute to Pierre Henry and Musique Concrete, a composer and style I only learned about a day before his passing in a strange twist of fate.

This song is an all modular preview of the very first Vilmos Anomaly live performance on 28 April 2016, "at Modular Systm, A Knob Loving Story!" at the RGAS, which followed the day after the debut of this song at Groundwerk GW010 on 27 April 2016 at the Anza Club in Vancouver, BC. Canada.
