One of the most anticipated releases for some time, we are proud to bring you the debut recordings from young Auckland, New Zealand duo Tokyo Prose. Discovered very early in their careers by DJ Presha, the two Sam’s were signed to Samurai Red Seal as core artists in a long term development deal. It has taken a few years to get to the point where we have this release ready, but as you will hear the wait has been worth it. ‘Introducing Tokyo Prose’ brings stylish swagger and musical substance to a scene overflowing with identical bare boned rollers. Gliding between minimal ambience and deep soulful steppers, these gifted young men aptly display their knack for sample selection and unique groove building. DJ support has been consistent from names like Calibre, S.P.Y, Bryan G, London Elektricity, Spectrasoul, Lenzman, Total Science, Blu Mar Ten, Loxy, Random Movement, Lynx, Presha, Sinistarr and many more.

Months of extensive talent-scouting and listening to countless demos has resulted in an expansive and genre-crossing collection of sounds that will impress drum+bass specialists from across the board.

It was over ten years ago that the liquid pioneer and Goodlooking boss LTJ Bukem first heard the music of Blade. Since then Bukem’s been playing his music out on a nearly weekly basis, taking Blade's blend of drum & bass out to crowds upon crowds of fans in countless territories. With labels like Liquid V and people like Fabio, Marky, Goldie and Bryan Gee all supporting his music, Blade has to date released three albums and numerous singles, pushing a complex sound that’s as comfortable veering from amen rollers, to soulful flecked, jazz influenced cuts and way out into the beyond. 

Ahead of joining us (and Bukem) in Room Two on 31st July, Blade has put together this mixtape to show you exactly how he does what he does and this morning it’s lit something of a spark in our sleepy office… I tell you.
