Brilliant musician and composer Yann Tiersen is holding a competition to rework/remix/whatever his new track 'Ker al Loch' so I've tried my hand at the job at hand.

All drafts after and including 7 have a completely different part which isn't much like the original at all. The music begins transitioning into this part around 4:32 and then the part ends around 7:57.

9th Draft: Couple bug fixes (made some things fade out that didn't fade out in the last draft which I hadn't noticed sounded bad until I listened through headphones) and added more crunchy drums into the drums.

10th Draft: More crunchy drums were required.

Today we premiere a remix from one of the biggest DJs in the scene Nicole Moudaber, for the legendary Chris Liebing, due out on UK imprint MUTE tomorrow [August 26th].

Today we welcome a premiere from Nicole Moudaber, as the world travelled international superstar takes time from her hectic touring schedule to step up for remixes duties for another legendary DJ and producer, Chris `Liebing.

Chris Liebing is a well established DJ, producer and the driving force behind the labels CLR and Spinclub Recordings. His sound has continuously evolved during his career, but he has always remained true to his techno roots. 

Moudaber gives Liebing's original broken beat track a 10 minute makeover, offering her signature big room techno sound. The original track has a lot to play with, including the standout vocal which is set against an evolving atmospheric backdrop that ebbs and flows, bringing the listener along a journey. 

From the get go, Moudaber starts the track with a pacy kick and hat combo, interlacing the vocal as the track broadens its range to include a synthy melodic build up, before stripping it back to the core elements. She gives the punk-ish tones of the vocal lots of room to breath before projecting it back into the pacy number from the beginning. This could easily work for the start of a set or likewise, pitched up to work for a key dance floor moment.

Four Four Premiere: Chris Liebing - Patterns [Nicole Moudaber Remix]

I have been a huge fan of Pye Corner Audio ever since I heard the album ‘Sleep Games’ in 2012. I was instantly hooked by the sound Martin Jenkins created, and have followed his incredible career ever since. For me his sound is a beautiful mixture of the nostalgic and dystopian, pushing sonic boundaries with every release. The world of Pye Corner Audio is a warm yet brooding place to completely lose yourself in. It has always been a dream of mine to work with Pye Corner Audio so it was incredible to get that opportunity!

The remix of Lack Of Sleep is fantastic, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Majestically, unashamedly huge in every way, it really is a monster of a remix. The build throughout is magnificent, and takes the original further towards the dance floor - while still maintaining Pye Corner Audio’s signature, inimitable style. Complete with Acid squelches, euphoric pulsing synths and the constant pushing rhythmic momentum, the remix is a work of beauty and a perfect rush of endorphins. Turn it up!

(FLASH Lab) KLUBNACHT [2023.10.21] Nicolas Bougaïeff

First up in Nicolas Bougaïeff’s ‘EP1’ is 'Primal Express', in which he returns to NovaMute for their next wave of releases with layers of elastic synth lines and rolling drum funk. It’s the first instalment in a three-part series on the Mute offshoot and is a dark but enticing work of heady minimalism featuring enchanting synths darting like cosmic rays into otherworldly dimensions. The psychedelic 'Obviate Thought' then boasts tight and punchy drums overlaid with haunting sounds that pan throughout the mix in tripped-out fashion. Last of all is 'Concrete Love,' a gritty and glitchy techno pumper with mind-melting loops and scratchy synth textures peeling off its percussion as the whole track powers on unrelentingly.
 
Berlin Academy of Electronic Music founder Nicolas Bougaïeff is not only a DJ who has played institutions such as fabric and Berghain, and a producer who has regularly released on Mute and NovaMute, but also someone involved in music technology. He designed the controllers for Richie Hawtin’s Plastikman Live tour, and in 2010 with Hawtin, he co-founded Liine, the company behind the landmark music app Lemur. Now, the Berlin-based Canadian Bougaïeff drops another artfully crafted and hugely potent techno EP with ‘EP1’, setting the tone for the stellar releases that will follow.

The album is Mick Harvey's sixth solo studio album, and follows 2011's Sketches from the Book of the Dead. 

Harvey, renowned for his career with The Birthday Party and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds is equally known for his soundtrack work (Chopper, To Have And To Hold, Australian Rules) and his production work (Anita Lane, Rowland S Howard and most recently PJ Harvey's Mercury Prize winning album, Let England Shake).

FOUR (Acts of Love) is a contemplation on romantic love - it's loss, re-awakening, our ongoing struggles with it and its place in our universe. The album is a song cycle, divided into 3 Acts. 

The album features original compositions by Mick Harvey alongside a song by long time collaborator PJ Harvey ('Glorious') and interpretations of The Saints' 'The Story of Love', Van Morrison's 'The Way Young Lovers Do', Exuma's 'Summertime in New York' and Roy Orbison's 'Wild Hearts (Run Out of Time)'.
